Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
College for Canines offers several training programs. Basic & Advanced Obedience Training is available for puppies 8 weeks and older, and adult dogs of any age. This program covers basic commands like sit, stay, down, come, and heel, with customized lessons that may include in-home and public training opportunities. Hunting dog training, focusing on obedience and retrieval skills, is also offered within this program.
Dog Behavior Modification addresses issues such as chewing, digging, shy or aggressive behavior, and housebreaking. This includes a 10-day (2-week) board and train program covering obedience, loose lead walking, recall, socialization, pack training, crate training, jumping, and biting. A 15-day (3-week) off-lead board and train program builds upon these commands with a focus on off-lead obedience, incorporating owners at the program’s conclusion.
Protection Dog Training is a one-month program designed for working breeds like German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, not family pets. It prepares dogs with full obedience and protection training, including German commands, bite work, and property protection for home, commercial, or farmland. The dog learns to protect an area, warn of threats, and respond to on/off commands from the owner. The ideal age to begin this training is between 10 to 12 weeks, or up to 7 months. Additionally, the business lists Service Dogs as a program type offered.
Dog boarding services are available for College for Canines graduates, offering exceptional care and a behavior and command refresh during their stay. Up to 8 dogs are accepted at the boarding facility at a time, with priority given to past clients.

Testimonials
“Excellent dog training and behavior facility. The trainer Brian Breutzman all clearly highly skilled in handling dogs of all ages. Would definitely recommend College For Canines for any of their services esp. The Puppy Group Classes where my pup Simba, not only made new human & canine friends but also learnt to be a calmer & gentler version of his usual aggressive self. 100% recommended!”
– Samuel M.
“My 2-year-old boxer, Fred, has been staying, training, and socializing with Brian and his pack for the better part of a year now, and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the College For Canines. Brian has been a kind trainer not just to Fred, but to us as pet parents as well. I can vouch for the fact that if someone can take as good care of Fred as me, it is Brian. He loves you & we do too!”
– Jean A.
“After the first lesson there was already a huge improvement. Elvis was learning to walk by my side and not run off every time a person or dog walked passed us. She was also learning basic commands like stay and come which before I would have never thought possible. Elvis is now a one of the best behaved dogs in our county. Thanks to you Brian!”
– Raymon H.
