Testimonials
We went to the companion dog club for a barnhunt. It was well run and went smoothly. We had a great time.

Took our puppy German Shepherd to Star Puppy class. Our trainer was amazing. The social distancing Covid restrictions caused for the classes to come to a major halt. I hope we’re able to lift some of the restrictions up and coming soon as me and my puppy were truly in need of that wonderful place. We felt great. The other dog owners in my class were such good people as well.
– Jaimi and Binx
We had a nice experience here working on basic obedience with our pup. They taught us about consistency in commands and getting the dog to focus on you and not other dogs or people.

About the Trainer
Companion Dog Club is a nonprofit dog training organization based in Omaha, NE, established in 1959 as the oldest dog sports and obedience club in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area. They offer group training classes for pet owners and competitors, covering puppy training, obedience, rally, agility, flyball, nosework, barn hunt, conformation, and tricks. Classes are taught by experienced instructors who have trained their own dogs to advanced titles in AKC, CPE, and UKC venues. The club provides a 8,000 sq ft climate-controlled facility with three 45ft x 45ft training rings and offers RV hookups for event attendees. They emphasize positive, reward-based training methods and cater to all dog breeds and experience levels—from first-time puppy owners to competitive handlers.
Their classes are structured in sessions with prerequisites for advanced programs, such as basic obedience before joining tricks or rally. They host seasonal classes like hunting training (spring/fall) and offer AKC Trick Dog testing at the end of their tricks course. The club is entirely volunteer-run and encourages member involvement in events, trials, and facility upkeep. They follow Omaha Public Schools’ inclement weather closures for class cancellations.
Membership is required to enroll in most classes, with pro-rated dues and a board approval process. They do not offer private, in-home, or board-and-train services, focusing exclusively on group classes held at their facility.
