Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
CPT offers a variety of training programs including Puppy Class, Beginner Obedience, Intermediate Obedience, Advanced Obedience, Advanced Pet Seminar, Competition Obedience, Rally Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Class, Tricks Class, Children’s Obedience Class, and Growl Class. They also provide Private & In-Home Instruction, Boarding/Board Training, Dog Agility Training, Service Dog Training, and Cat Training & Behavior.
Puppy Class is an all-positive, off-leash experience for puppies 8-18 weeks old, focusing on socialization, bite inhibition, sensory stimulation, and imprint obedience. Beginner Obedience teaches general motivation and training theories, handling techniques, equipment recommendations, confidence, socialization, leadership, and commands like Watch, Come, Sit, Down, Stay, Walk, and Heel on leash. Intermediate Obedience builds on prior skills, teaching heeling with pace and direction changes, off-leash heeling, automatic halts, distance sits/downs, recalls with distractions, blind recalls, come to front, extended stays, out-of-sight stays, selective disobedience, stand for examination, and finish to heel position. It also introduces agility obstacles like bar jumps, A-frame, and tunnel.
The training methods emphasize positive motivational obedience and cognitive methods rather than force. Q&A time is included in classes for household manners and behavioral issues, with recommendations for in-home private lessons for more complex or severe issues.

Testimonials
“Megan Jefferson and CPT were recommended to me by a close friend and to say that Megan exceeded my expectations would be an understatement of a lifetime. She took a brand new, scared lab rescue to new heights in just three weeks. The transformation with my lab pup was truly remarkable. Not only was Megan extremely patient with our lab, but she developed a personalized training program around his needs. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I picked up my pup at how big the change was. His confidence was difference, and he was freely interacting with the world around him for the first time without terrible fear. I cannot begin to thank Megan enough for what she has done for Kevin in giving him the confidence he needed to succeed. I will be eternally thankful :)”

“Mark quickly zoned in on our issues and made great improvements with Pippa in just an hour. We will definitely be back for more lessons. It made such a difference already.”
