Training begins with a free 15-minute phone consultation or an in-person consultation at regular lesson rates. Clients can mix and match private lessons, group classes, in-home sessions, and doggy socials. Group classes are held on weekends and weekdays (Mon–Wed 1pm–9pm, Sat–Sun 3pm–9pm). In-home training is offered Thurs–Fri. Programs are tailored to individual goals, with options for ongoing weekly training or intensive behavior modification plans.

Pricing Summary

Group classes and private in-store training are priced per dog. In-home training is priced per visit with a trip fee based on distance from Sugar Grove. Payments are due in full at or before the first service. Multi-dog plans, memberships, and customizable packages are available. No refunds are offered, and training agreements must be signed before starting.

Cooperative K9s is a dog training business founded by Bryan and Gina, who started their journey after successfully rehabilitating their own dog, Vader, who was labeled “a vicious beast” by a vet. They specialize in customizing training to fit each dog’s unique needs and their owner’s lifestyle, avoiding one-size-fits-all approaches. They offer private lessons, group classes, in-home training, doggy socials, and puppy parties, with services available at their Plainfield location and throughout the greater Chicagoland area. They also provide virtual Zoom consultations for non-local clients. Their training emphasizes positive reinforcement and behavior modification, helping dogs with reactivity, aggression, fearfulness, and socialization issues. They partner with the Sugar Grove Park District for additional class locations and focus on building confidence and communication between dogs and their owners.

They also host community events like doggy Halloween costume contests and donation drives for local animal rescues, showing their commitment to the broader pet community. Their trainers are known for their patience, adaptability, and ability to work with challenging cases including large, reactive, or previously abused dogs.

In addition to training, they offer dog walking and pet sitting services, and sell pet supplies through their store. They do not offer boarding, grooming, or daycare services.

Accomplishments

Vader, the founder’s dog, became CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certified after behavioral rehabilitation. The business has helped numerous dogs pass the CGC test and become off-leash friendly in public parks. Trainers have successfully worked with reactive, abused, and high-energy dogs, enabling owners to travel and socialize confidently with their pets.
