Testimonials

“Chris and Starla do a spectacular job boarding and taking care of our dogs. They handle them all – from family pets that need extra care, to puppies, to difficult to handle working dogs. They treat the dogs as if they are their own. The care is so good that we never worry when we go away. I cannot imagine a better place for boarding. And they even pickup and drop off!”
– Elizabeth Clark

“My dog has completed the three week board and train program here and we love it! The people are unfailingly kind and friendly and my dogs behavior has dramatically improved. Best of all they give you the knowledge and tools to maintain the training after the program!”
– Michele Anderson

“My 4 year old Parson Jack Russell Terrorist was absolutely transformed by his three week board and train experience with Starla and Chris this summer. Starla provided the boundaries, communication skills, and most importantly, loving understanding that got through to Katsu. I am now able to take Katsu into busy environments… I cannot recommend them enough.”

About the Trainer

Country Hill Canine is a professional dog training company based in eastern Connecticut, founded and operated by Christopher and Starla Busch, who have over ten years of experience training dogs in the New England region. They offer customized board and train programs, private one-on-one training lessons, and overnight dog boarding services at their home-based facility. Their property includes climate-controlled indoor suites, three fenced outdoor play areas totaling 15,000 sq ft, and a 900 sq ft indoor training studio with rubber flooring and mirrored walls. They specialize in creating clarity between dogs and owners to build lifelong healthy relationships, using a balanced approach that combines positive reinforcement with e-collar communication, verbal cues, and hand signals. They accept all breeds and ages, including intact males and females, and provide pickup and drop-off services for boarding clients. Their training programs are designed to address both basic obedience and severe behavior issues like leash reactivity, resource guarding, and excessive barking.

Their board and train programs include 2-week, 3-week, and 4-week intensive options, each ending with a private session for owners to learn how to maintain the training at home. They also offer free email support after program completion and provide training equipment such as e-collars, leashes, and place beds. Their boarding services are 24/7 with personalized care, making them ideal for short-term or long-term stays. Clients praise their compassionate, professional approach and the dramatic improvements seen in their dogs’ behavior.

They also sell training equipment through their online shop and offer day training and private lessons at their indoor studio, with sessions tailored to specific needs like puppy development, house manners, and multi-dog household management.
