Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • E-Collars

CR Dog Training offers several programs designed to suit different needs. The process often begins with a “Meet & Greet or Evaluation” where Rob or Cheryl discuss their training philosophy, meet the dog and household members, and help determine the right program.

Private Lessons are available in 2, 4, or 6-lesson packs, focusing on key training commands with the owner, dog, and household members. Board & Train Programs are designed to jumpstart good behaviors, with the trainers setting the foundation before teaching owners how to continue the training at home. These programs require dogs to be up-to-date on vaccinations and able to crate.

Board & Train options include the “Essentials Program,” an approximately 30-45 day on-leash obedience program covering polite leash walking and socialization. The “Essentials Plus Program” is an approximately 6-8 week board and train that includes an e-collar, weekly lessons, videos, a private Facebook group, and lifetime support. The “Essentials Plus Plus” program offers one-on-one, full-attention training inside the house, with or without an e-collar, with the length of stay determined by the dog’s pace. Additionally, they offer “Started Gundog” and “Advanced Gundog” programs for retrievers.

Policies

Dogs participating in Board & Train programs must be up to date on all vaccinations, including bordetella and rabies, and owners must supply their dog’s food. Dogs must be able to be crated. CR Dog Training does not work with dogs exhibiting extremely aggressive behavior, high extreme anxiety, extreme separation anxiety, or extreme crate anxiety, recommending a dog behavior therapist for these issues.

About the Trainer

CR Dog Training, run by Rob and Cheryl Trenholm, is a family-operated dog training business based in Northern California. They offer training for all breeds, aiming to help dog owners achieve long-lasting happiness with their companions by making them outstanding family members.

They provide various training options including private lessons, board and train programs, and specialized gundog training. Their philosophy centers on making dogs an extension of the family, emphasizing that seeking training is a beneficial decision for a four-legged family member.

The trainers, Rob and Cheryl, treat every dog like their own, adapting programs to each dog’s learning ability. They also offer gundogs for sale and merchandise.
