Testimonials
Jamie is — hands-down — the best herding trainer in the DFW area. She has the rare ability to both train *and* to explain what’s happening, what she sees/what she’s doing and what you need to be doing/thinking to achieve similar results. The dogs love her and she’s patient, tireless, intuitive and enthusiastic about the sport. I can’t say enough good things about her and her facility.
– Client
Ace and I are learning so much from Jamie! She is very professional and makes our herding lessons count! We are both learning much and hope to trial in the spring. Ace also loves being able to cool off in the pond afterwards (love his picture)!

Lots of nice Aussies, cattle, sheep, and goats to keep you company!

About the Trainer
Cut’n Loose Canine Training Resort, run by Jamie Burns, is a specialized facility focused on working Australian Shepherd training for stockdog tasks. Jamie has decades of experience raising and training herding dogs, with a background rooted in cattle ranching and veterinary science. The business offers board and train programs (minimum 2 months at $1200/month), private lessons ($75), and group lessons ($50), all centered on stock work including driving, fetching, gate control, and heel commands. Training occurs at a private facility with live cattle, sheep, and goats. Owners must provide their own dog food (16%+ fat), heartworm, flea/tick prevention, and current vaccines. Jamie also breeds and sells working Australian Shepherd puppies with proven stock instincts. The facility is not a general obedience school but a dedicated working dog training center for ranchers and serious herding enthusiasts.
Jamie emphasizes genetics and real-world stock experience, advising clients to choose dogs from proven working lines. She offers custom training for specific tasks like heel biting or head pressure, and her methods are grounded in traditional stockdog handling. The facility is not designed for pet obedience or behavior modification outside of working contexts.
Clients can visit the facility by appointment only, and training is suspended without charge if weather or other conditions prevent sessions. Jamie is a certified ASCA Hall of Fame Kennel (#151) with a legacy of producing top-tier working Aussies.
Additional services include puppy sales, with current litters available for reservation at $1500.
Jamie does not offer general pet training, grooming, boarding for non-training dogs, or services for non-herding breeds.
