Testimonials

Ten stars to D.O.G. Dog Training with Amber and Francine! Adopting our Pitbull-Lab mix left us overwhelmed by her energy and lack of confidence-we even considered rehoming. Reluctant about a month-long structured program with e-collar training, I talked it out with Francine. She explained how safe and effective it is for dog and family alike-no regrets! Our pup’s now kind, confident, respectful-way beyond our six-year-old Corgi-beagle, who’d never had proper guidance. Safe around aging in-laws and little kids… she’s the exact same dog we sent to “camp” but is now trained and so are WE! I did speak with a number of other program heads and many were just baby-sitting with some training or didn’t take the time to talk me through thier program so finding Francine was a relief! What a dream team. Huge thanks, Francine and Amber! My husband and I can not thank you enough!

We couldn’t be more thankful for the incredible transformation our dog Cash experienced at D.O.G. Board N’ Train. Cash is our 8-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer, and before training, he was a total handful. Walks were nearly impossible, he had no recall, and life with a high-energy pup like him felt overwhelming at times. Sending him away for nearly a month was a tough decision, but it ended up being one of the best choices we’ve made. Amber and Francine were phenomenal throughout the entire process. Not only did they help us learn how to properly communicate and work with our dog, but their commitment and expertise truly changed everything for us. Amber kept in close contact the whole time–sending us weekly updates filled with photos, videos, and detailed notes. It made being away from him a lot easier, knowing he was in such caring and capable hands. Now that he’s home, Cash is a completely different dog. He walks calmly on a leash, listens to commands, and is so much more connected to us. We finally feel like we can enjoy our life with him again–and that’s something we’re forever grateful for. If you’re on the fence about sending your dog to training, do it. This program has been life-changing for our family, and we’re so glad we found such passionate and talented trainers!

D.O.G. Board and Train is simply outstanding! We brought home our red fox Lab, Azula (“Zu”), when she was just 8 weeks old. She is an incredibly energetic and loving pup who adores everyone she meets, but she did not listen, pulled hard on walks, became overly excited around every other dog, and was difficult to manage outdoors. After meeting someone whose dog was, without a doubt, the most well-trained and well-behaved I had ever seen, I asked where they had gone. That is how I found D.O.G. Board and Train. When Azula was old enough, I made the long drive from Northern Virginia to their facility in New York. Amber and Francine were great! They are real people working hard and care about the animals they train. Amber kept us updated with Zu’s progress twice a week with pictures and videos. She would give great write-ups on our little fire nation princess’ progress. You can tell that they are natural dog ‘people’ who love what they do and will take care of your special pooch. Now, the drive was long (we live in northern VA), and the cost was significant, but every mile and every dollar was worth it. Today, Azula is a different dog. She is attentive, responsive, and mastering her new commands beautifully. For the first time, I can take her outside and even go hiking without a leash, confident she will listen and stay close. However, this is not a “fix it and forget it” solution. You MUST continue reinforcing the training at home. We are happy to keep putting in the work because the transformation we have seen brings tremendous rewards. If you are considering serious training for your dog, I highly recommend D.O.G. Board and Train. It has been a truly life-changing experience for both us and our Azula.

About the Trainer

D.O.G. Board N’ Train is a dog training business run by Amber and Francine that specializes in board and train programs to develop off-leash obedience in dogs. They focus on teaching essential commands like recall, heeling on and off leash, down stays, and place commands to ensure dog safety and improve behavior at home and outdoors. Clients report dramatic improvements in dogs that were previously unruly, fearful, or difficult to manage—especially for walks, guests, and outdoor activities. The trainers provide weekly photo and video updates during the board and train program, and include in-person follow-up sessions for owners to learn how to maintain the training at home. Their approach emphasizes safety, communication, and long-term results, with many clients noting the trainers’ genuine care and professionalism.

They serve dog owners seeking intensive, structured training for dogs with issues like leash pulling, poor recall, jumping, reactivity, or lack of confidence. The program is not a quick fix; owners are expected to continue reinforcing training at home for lasting success.
