Testimonials

Our vet office recommended D and G dog training and we are so thankful. Shannon is so patient, listens to our concerns and gave us really valuable tools to help our dog who can be reactive to other dogs and has had some issues with nipping. We adore our dog, Fern, but were worried we’d need to find her a home without children but now feel confident that we can help her through some of the issues we’ve had. Shannon really went above and beyond with our family and we plan to continue seeing her and recommending her to everyone we know with dogs. And her new facility in Molalla is amazing!

This is THE dog trainer your dog needs. My reactive little Chihuahua is now able to go in public with other dogs without losing his mind, not to mention how well he behaves when no one else is around. And he’s learned tons of cute tricks!
Top notch facilities. All the trainers really care about the dogs and our relationship with them. I cannot say enough good things about D&G Dog Training. I’d give them 6 stars if I could.

About the Trainer

D&G Dog Training is a professional dog training service founded by Shannon Rowe, offering comprehensive 1:1 private lessons and group classes designed to build obedience through trust. They specialize in helping dogs of all sizes and backgrounds—especially reactive, rescue, or large-breed dogs—become calm, confident, and well-behaved in public and at home. Their unique focus on “neutrality” teaches dogs to remain composed around distractions like other dogs, people, and noises. They also offer specialized programs including trick training, movie/acting certification, puppy training, and service dog preparation. Their facility in Molalla, OR, provides a safe, clean environment for training, and they support their services with a nonprofit rescue organization that rescues and rehabilitates homeless dogs.

Trainers include Shannon Rowe (Certified Master Dog Trainer), Marjorie Maddison (CTDI and AACE-certified Trick Instructor), Natalie Bass (specializing in service dogs and anxiety support), and Molly Elkins (former teacher focused on owner education). All trainers emphasize positive, personalized methods with no guilt or shame for owners. They require at least three private lessons before group classes to ensure readiness.

Additional services include toxic mold detection using a certified K-9 team, a dog gear store, and a rescue nonprofit. Training is tailored to individual needs, with packages of 4, 7, or 10 sessions, and they serve clients in Portland, OR, and surrounding areas.

Accomplishments

Shannon Rowe is a Certified Master Dog Trainer with 30+ years in dog training and 500+ hours in mold detection training. Marjorie Maddison is CTDI and AACE certified in trick training. Trainers are certified in AKC CGC, Urban CGC, Community Canine, S.T.A.R. Puppy, and Robert Cabral’s Shelter Dog Training Course. K-9 Whiskey and Shannon are dual-certified in toxic mold detection.

How to Get Started!

Begin with a 2-hour introductory lesson to assess your dog’s needs and goals. Afterward, a tailored training plan is created with recommendations for private lessons, group classes, or day training. Group classes require at least three private lessons first.
