Dirty Bay Retrievers

Dirty Bay Retrievers offers a Basic Gundog Program, an Advanced Gundog Program, a Basic Obedience Program, and a Puppy Foundation Program. They also provide training for AKC and UKC Hunt Tests.

Randy Harris is the owner and head trainer at Dirty Bay Retrievers. He began training dogs in the early 2000s after realizing he needed a dog for duck hunting, starting with his own Labrador, Sarge, and later training dogs for friends. This hobby evolved into a passion, leading him to establish Dirty Bay Retrievers and build gun dogs from the ground up for clients.

Dirty Bay Retrievers works with a small number of dogs, treating each like family. They offer training for basic gundogs for weekend hunting, fully finished gundogs capable of competing in AKC and HRC hunt tests, and general obedience for most breeds. Their kennel facility is fully enclosed, insulated, and properly ventilated to ensure dog comfort during their stay. A board-certified veterinarian visits the kennel monthly to administer heartworm and flea medication and conduct wellness exams.

Accomplishments

Randy Harris, the owner and head trainer, started duck hunting in the early 2000s and successfully trained his first Labrador, Sarge, through self-study and assistance from others. He later trained dogs for friends and began participating in hunt tests with his dog Addie and friends’ dogs. This experience led him to professionally train gun dogs from the ground up for clients.
