Dog Gone Amazing offers three primary training programs: Board & Train, Turnkey In-Home Training, and Dog Training Camp. The Board & Train program is a 4-week intensive program where dogs board Tuesday-Saturday for daily one-on-one training, returning home for weekends. It includes 16 days of boarding, daily hikes, public training, free play, training collars/leashes, a place board, weekly private lessons, and one in-home or off-campus lesson.

Turnkey In-Home Training is a customized program with 6 one-hour in-home sessions per month, designed for busy pet parents. It includes customized training, a walk/exercise, video updates, and on-leash setup. This program can accommodate multiple dogs at no additional cost.

Dog Training Camp is a blend of on-site and in-home lessons, offering 8 full training camp days on campus with personalized one-on-one training, group activities, and walks. It also includes two 1-hour in-home lessons, an eCollar setup, and daily photo updates. This program can be completed in 4 or 8 weeks. All training program graduates become official DGA members, gaining access to member-only boarding and daycare services.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

The 4-week Board & Train program costs $4,750, with monthly payment plans available. Boarding is $100 per night, with an additional dog sharing a kennel costing $65 per night. Boarding upgrades include grooming services (Bath & Dry $35, Nail Trims $25, Brush Out $25), comfort items (Facetime w/ Your Dog $20, Warm Blanket Treatment $10, Kong Treat $10, Bully Stick $10), and a Brush-Up Training Lesson for $50.

The DGA Boarding Club offers unlimited access to guaranteed reservations for $1,200 per year per dog, though standard nightly boarding fees still apply. The Dog Training Camp program is $1,599 for 8 full training camp days, completed in 4-8 weeks, with monthly payment plans available. An additional 8-day training camp package costs $999.

TurnKey In-Home Training is a 6-lesson program for $999, to be used within 60 days, and can be used for multiple dogs at no additional cost. Brush-up training lessons are available on-campus for $99 or in-home for $119.

Policies

For Boarding: Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance, requiring a 50% deposit. Cancellations made 3+ days prior to arrival receive a full refund; cancellations after this period forfeit the deposit. No-shows are charged the full reservation fee. Deposits cannot be used as credits for other services. The full balance is due at pick-up. Dogs must be fully vaccinated, with new vaccinations administered 5 days prior to arrival. Dogs must arrive with a leash, prong collar, and sufficient food. If it has been over 6 months since a dog’s last training or daycare, two brush-up training lessons may be required during their stay. Holiday boarding has a stricter 7-day cancellation policy.

For Daycare: Daycare and boarding services are exclusively for members who have completed their Masters or Advanced training and are remote-collar trained. The Trek & Train Daycare Program is subscription-only, with no drop-ins allowed, and requires advance notice for missed days.

For Training Programs: Highly unsocialized dogs or those with leash reactivity may incur additional training time or fees. Board & Train requires dogs to be over 7 months, spayed, potty trained, crate comfortable, and without aggression issues, possessing social skills. E-collar training is mandatory for Dog Training Camp and for accessing future boarding and daycare activities. Opting out of e-collar training for TurnKey Training will disqualify dogs from the DGA membership program for daycare and boarding access.

About the Trainer

Dog Gone Amazing Dog Training and Boarding is a woman-owned business that has been serving Reno, Sparks, Lake Tahoe, and surrounding areas since 2008. Their mission is to help dog owners build a remarkable bond with their dogs by providing training that corrects unwanted behavior and successfully integrates dogs into family life. They believe every dog has the potential to be amazing and that training is key to establishing communication between dog and owner.

They offer a “training-first community” where dogs learn to make good choices, access a calm state of mind, and balance their energy. Their approach involves handling the intensive, focused training to build a solid foundation, then empowering owners with the tools and knowledge to maintain skills. They emphasize training both dogs and owners, believing that understanding and trust are reciprocal.

After completing a training program, clients become official DGA members, gaining access to ongoing training to keep their dog in practice, as well as safe and trusted away care services like boarding and daycare. They also offer grooming upgrades for boarding clients.

Accomplishments

Dog Gone Amazing has been serving the Reno, NV area for over 15 years, having been established in 2008. They have trained over 1,000 dogs. The business is locally owned and woman-owned. Malaika Heinbaugh, the CEO and Master Trainer, has been training animals her entire life and specifically dogs since 2000. She has traveled nationally to work with and learn from various trainers.

How to Get Started!

To begin a program, clients typically start by completing an online registration or answering a few quick questions to schedule their program or an evaluation. For Board & Train and TurnKey In-Home Training, an evaluation meeting is conducted to discuss needs, goals, and outline a customized training plan. After enrollment, dogs begin their training sessions. Upon completion, clients receive a wrap-up lesson or a member welcome kit and graduation certificate to celebrate their dog’s progress.
