Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive with Some Corrections
Equipment:
- ✓ E-Collars
- ✓ Harnesses
Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing utilizes a digital radio signal to keep dogs within selected boundaries. A thin wire is buried underground to create a safety perimeter. A comfortable collar with a small receiver is worn by the dog. When the dog approaches the barrier, the receiver emits an appropriate stimulus level. If the dog continues to advance, a second field produces maximum correction to prevent escape.
The boundary is marked with flags, creating a visible line. For two weeks, owners should spend fifteen minutes twice daily exercising the dog on a leash around the flag boundary. If the dog moves toward the flags, the owner should say “NO!” and then move the dog away, giving praise. Once the dog is familiar with the visible boundary, the flags can be removed. Highly-trained pet behavior specialists work with clients and their pets during the initial process to ensure training techniques and boundaries are clearly defined.
