Testimonials
Rob is an excellent dog trainer! We started out training with him when Hank (German Shorthaired Pointer) was just about 8 months old. The goal was to train Hank for service dog work. We’ve started training with individual sessions later moving into the group format. Even before that Rob made sure that I, as a handler, am trained and our very first session was an excellent lesson in canine behavior, positive/negative theories, and many more.
Within few months of training we achieved all three AKC certifications: Canine Good Citizen, Canine Community Citizen and Canine Urban Citizen – the last one being a the most important as it marked the time that Hank proved himself passing this public access test and we officially started training for specific service tasks (e.g. object retrieval, focus on handler in high stress/busy situations, alerts, etc.). It was a long road but with Rob’s excellent guidance and knowledge, we were able to achieve our goals, and as a result Hank is a reliable service dog and an amazing companion.
Rob is also well versed within dog training and dog sports world. He offers a variety of services, starting from basic obedience, agility, service dog training, but also scent work. During our training Rob introduced us to scent work and we fell in love with the sport, quickly achieving excellent and master titles in AKC scent work trials. This became not only a great hobby but was also a great way for us to work on our handler-dog relationship, way to celebrate victories, and train alerts for service work. At about 2 years, we were looking forward to extend our sport repertoire and as Hank is a hunting dog, Rob introduced us to his fellow trainer in CT who trains hunting dogs. This started a completely new journey for us! Even though hunting dog training starts when dogs are pups, and Hank was a bit ‘too old’ to start, his amazing genetics + Rob’s excellent training prior + amazing training at V3 Gun Dog Academy made Hank excel as a hunting dog and companion.
Now let’s talk about how Rob operates. What we appreciate the most was that he always starts with individual sessions and obedience and only after he thinks your dog is ready to go to a group class he would invite you to join – this ensures safety of your pup and is often a problem within puppy classes (closed unfamiliar spaces, unfamiliar dogs, etc). Group classes are once a week, but you can still request individual class with him at any time. And the best thing is that you pay once and it’s a lifetime training fee. So you can train, and after you achieve your goals maybe at some point you want to go back and train for something else – you can! This is a hard to find deal in a dog training world!
Aside of Rob’s knowledge and skills, he is a very nice and easy to talk to individual. He is always open to talk with you, navigate issues, and find best solutions for you and your dog. His focus is truly to help you and your dog become the best team possible regardless of what you are training for, whether this is obedience, sports, or service work.
If you are looking for help training your dog in NYC area we truly recommend Rob!

Happy Training!

Training with Rob has been the best decision me and my pup made. To start from the beginning, Rob started with a theory class that will go over the science behind his teaching, and what you can expect. This was a clear indication of the good things to come.
When we started training, he understood my dogs behavior and the best ways to handle it. The class progresses at a good pace, with Rob administering AKC tests along the way. He makes training extremely fun with my dog. Rob works on helping me, the handler, learn and understand my dogs behavior so I am the one training him.
We have since completed 5 different AKC tests and we are only getting started.
The group Saturday class that Rob offers at forest park is so great as well! It’s a good setting to practice what we worked on during the week along side some distractions. We’ve worked on scent work, agility training, practicing grooming techniques, off leash training, and so much more. The best part of this training is all the work we’ve done helped me with traveling with my dog and getting him tough enough to fly. My Shiba Inu and I wish we can give Rob 10 stars on their page but sadly the limit is 5.
This training is well worth every penny!
Sincerely,
Kurama and Mak
