Dog Training Methodology
The National K-9 Learning Center offers various training programs for dog owners in Columbus and Central Ohio. Their Obedience Training provides quality education for all breeds and mixed breeds, focusing on tailored on and off-leash training.
The Puppy Preschool program is designed for puppies aged 8 to 16 weeks, aiming to help owners understand their puppy’s needs, curb behavior problems, teach good manners, and socialize them. For more specific issues, Behavior Modification programs and counseling services are available. These services advise owners on behavior causes and offer solutions for problems such as socialization issues, anxiety, chewing, barking, possessive behaviors, and aggression.

The National K-9 Learning Center, located in Columbus, Ohio, has been making dogs better since 1975 and is regarded as a leader in dog training, behavior modification, and dog trainer education. They offer a comprehensive range of services for dog owners in Central Ohio, including professional obedience training, behavior counseling, puppy preschool, specialty training, and boarding services.
In addition to their services for dog owners, National K-9 established its School for Dog Trainers in 1981. This school aims to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue professional dog training careers, having graduated over 2,300 certified professionals who have established careers globally.
Their unique advantages include their long-standing experience, being regulated and approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, and offering practical, hands-on instruction from experienced instructors. Accomplishments
The National K-9 Learning Center, founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1975, is recognized as a leader in dog training, behavior modification, and dog trainer education. By 2025, they will celebrate 50 years of service.
Since establishing its School for Dog Trainers in 1981, over 2,300 graduates have received professional certification and built successful careers across all 50 U.S. states and more than 45 foreign countries. The school is regulated and approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, which authorizes them to issue the Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) title to graduates. They are also a member of the Ohio-Michigan Association of Career Colleges and Schools.
How to Get Started!
To get started with training lessons, pre-training evaluations, or puppy consultations, appointments are required and available Monday through Saturday. Dog owners can request an evaluation for dog training and behavior counseling or a consultation for puppy preschool. Boarding reservations can also be requested.
