Doggie Steps Dog Training offers various programs designed to develop dogs to their fullest potential through repetition and routine, providing knowledge useful throughout the dog’s lifetime. All training is force-free and positive, using human voice and posture, with occasional mild scruff corrections. Training techniques include treats, loving praise, posture, and tone of voice.

The “In Home Dog Training” is a premiere private class where Mark travels to the client’s home, covering commands like Sit, Leave It, Off, Stay, Down, Come, Heel, doggie door use, socialization, off-leash control, anxiety/aggression redirect, and agility intro. This option is ideal for those seeking a higher level of personal service and attention. The “At My Home Dog Training” class is held at Mark’s home in Chandler, AZ, outdoors at a local park, focusing on commands like Sit, Leave It, Off, Stay, Down, Come, Heel, off-leash preparation, and agility intro, ideal for dogs with outdoor behavior challenges or reactivity.

“Group Dog Training” sessions, with a maximum of six dogs, are also held at Mark’s home outdoors, focusing on basic commands and socialization for calm, non-aggressive dogs. “Puppy Training” is a jump-start class for new puppy owners, covering potty training, biting control, puppy-proofing, acclimation, socialization, leadership posture, grooming, health, nutrition, and basic commands. This class is ideal for first-time dog owners or those needing extensive consultation.

Training incorporates general command work, lead work, agility, and dog/dog/human social interaction. For aggressive and anxiety cases, the focus is on managing and desensitizing behaviors, as 100% correction may not always be possible. Mark’s own Australian Shepherds are included in classes if social interaction is needed for a client’s dog.

Testimonials

“I can’t say enough wonderful things about Mark @ Doggie Steps! Our beloved lab, Skipper and chihuahua Belle, both 12 1/2 and 9 years, have both been trained by Mark (Skip as a puppy and Belle as a 1yr old rescue) as well as boarding them regularly, when we travel. I never worry about our babies as I know they will get the ultimate in tender loving doggie care. He loves and treats them like they were his own. In fact, we fondly refer to him as Uncle Mark! I would absolutely trust Mark with all of your dog training needs. He’s the best!❤️ .”
– Blinda Dadam

“I signed up for a 5 week private course with Mark, in hopes of helping my 2 year old German Shepherd gain more confidence with strangers and other dogs. Mark was always very professional and kind, and truly listened to my concerns. He helped me to feel more confident with Claire while out in public places, gave us the tools we needed for success, and truly made such a big difference in our lives! I can’t wait to continue utilizing the tools we now have, and see where all of this takes Claire and me! Thanks, Mark!!!”
– Susan Blessing

“We completed puppy obedience in our home when our dog was 9 weeks old. I was so grateful to find Mark and that he was willing to come to us! It was very valuable to get the training up front, as he went over crate training and potty training as well. He answered all of our questions (which was a lot!) and really set Louie up for a good training foundation. The introduction to agility was a fun addition to the training as well. Mark is really good at the coaching approach. We definitely recommend him!”
