Testimonials
Before Tayla went to Doglingual’s board and train, she was honestly pretty hard to live with. She was reactive toward both people and dogs, walks were a struggle with constant pulling, lunging, and barking, and having guests over felt impossible. I rarely took her anywhere because it was just too stressful for both of us.
We did the 4-week board and train with Tamara, and it was truly a game changer. Tamara is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely great with dogs–she treated Tayla like her own, which meant so much to me. Her regular Instagram updates showing Tayla’s progress were reassuring and made the time apart much easier.
The difference now is amazing. Tayla is a breeze to walk, her off-leash recall is excellent, and I take her to our neighborhood coffee shop every weekend where she stands politely in line with people coming and going–something that would have never been possible before training. I constantly get compliments on her behavior when we’re out.
10/10 recommend Tamara for any training needs. She changed both of our lives.
– Tayla’s Owner
I was so happy to have found Tamara after having negative experiences with two previous trainers. I have an 85 lb. male shepherd who was testing boundaries and causing chaos during adolescence. Tamara has given me the tools to appropriately lead my dog, set boundaries, and manage my expectations of him in certain situations. She’s been critical in boosting my confidence as his handler – something that I really lost when ‘positive-only’ training was failing us. Because Tamara has experience with difficult dogs – especially working breeds – I knew she was going to lead us in the right direction. My bond with my dog has only improved since we met her.
Tamara is knowledgeable, reliable, and is quick to reply via text.
In addition, I’ve boarded my dog with Tamara at her home when we’ve gone out of town. He’s always excited to see her, and is content and healthy when we pick him up. It’s clear that she treats her client dogs with the same level of care that she does her personal dogs – and that’s hard to find! I highly recommend Tamara to anyone looking for help with their dog.

We can’t say enough great things about Tamara and the amazing work she has done with our high-energy dog, Odie! We have done a 3 week board and train, day camps, boarding while on trips and trekking with Tamara. From the start, she helped us build Odie’s focus and confidence, especially in busy public areas, which was a huge challenge due to his “stranger danger” tendencies. Thanks to her expert guidance, we now have a dog who looks to us for direction instead of reacting to his environment–an absolute game-changer!
Beyond training, Tamara has also been a lifesaver during the summer months when our schedules were packed. Odie has participated on her trekking adventures, giving him the exercise, socialization, and mental stimulation he needed. Knowing he was in trusted hands when out exploring and playing with other dogs while we were working gave us so much peace of mind!
Tamara is truly passionate, knowledgeable, and patient, and we couldn’t have asked for a better trainer. If you’re looking for someone to transform your dog’s behavior and provide enriching experiences, we highly recommend her!
An added bonus for me is the amount of photos and videos she sends throughout the day / week she has your fur child. It gives me such peace of mind to see constant updates of him happy and thriving. But also, look at that cute face?!

About the Trainer
Doglingual Canine Training is a woman-led, Latina, queer, and veteran-owned dog training and boarding business based in the Portland metro area. They offer balanced, connection-driven training tailored to modern pet parents who view their dogs as family and want to enjoy outdoor adventures, public spaces, and quiet home life together. Services include private lessons, board and train programs, group dog hikes, and off-leash trekking adventures called “Trekking Paws.” They also provide in-home boarding at their facility. Their training emphasizes real-life skills like recall, leash manners, reactivity management, and calm behavior in busy environments such as breweries, trails, and patios. They use a balanced approach combining leadership, compassion, and hands-on experience, with a focus on building trust and communication between dogs and owners. Clients receive daily photo and video updates during board and train programs, and they support rescue dogs through free consultations and volunteer assistance.
The business is known for working successfully with high-energy, working, and reactivity-prone breeds, including German Shepherds, Malinois, and bully-type dogs. Their facility is described as a quiet, boutique retreat focused on emotional well-being, not a traditional kennel. They also offer a proprietary Doglingual Canine Training Roadmap for clients to understand their process.
They are deeply involved in the local rescue community, helping with foster dog evaluations, adoption matching, and providing free introductory sessions to adopters to prevent returns. Their founder, Tamara, is frequently highlighted in testimonials for her expertise, reliability, and deep care for client dogs.
Additional services include pet boarding, trekking adventures, and photography for adoptable dogs.
All people and all dogs are welcome.
