Testimonials

Joe is a next level trainer. Twenty-five years ago when we adopted a full grown 95-pound Akita, my husband Dene and I realized it was a safety issue for us to not have full control over a dog that size. We contacted Joe who immediately recognized that it was Dene and I who needed most of the training. He was right, and training with Joe was the best thing we could have done for all of us. In the years since, Joe has trained two more of our dogs in both private lessons and classes with other dogs. Over the years people consistently have commented on how “lucky” we are that our dogs are so well behaved. A couple of years ago we moved to New Mexico and got two corgi puppies. We thought we learned enough from Joe to train them ourselves. It was a disaster. We hired a trainer locally for private lessons. They learned nothing and we could barely get them to wear a collar or walk on a leash without freaking out. We fired her and hired another trainer – this one had worked with Cesar Milan! We finished his program, and now they walk on a leash ok, and will sit on command sometimes… We miss Joe and wish he would come to New Mexico and train our corgis. We never realized what a talented trainer he is until we had to hire other trainers.

Joe the Dogman has been training my family’s dogs since I was about 4 years old. When I made it to my 20s and purchased my first dog I immediately thought of Joe. At the time, the group classes didn’t fit with my schedule so I went to another local trainer for puppy kindergarten. I can honestly say that was a mistake. My labradoodle was wild, fresh, overbearing, and a frankly a jerk. He had a terrible recall, jumped all over people, stole everything and anything, and pulled on the leash. We switched gears…i fixed my schedule..and we went to Joe. That was 12 years ago. To this day, we still pop into Joe’s drop in classes for an obedience refresher, agility, and trick training. My dog is reliable, confident, and trustworthy. I can thank Joe for this. The best part? Fletcher LOVES Joe. You ask him if wants to go to class and see Joe and he gets so excited. I highly recommend Joe if you want to learn how to actually communicate with your dog and not have to rely on treats to keep your dog’s attention. I recommend Joe to anyone looking for a competent, approachable, and knowledgeable trainer.

My French Bulldog Scooch was absolutely out of control when I would try to take him for walks at only a year old. He would go crazy barking and lunging at other dogs, it was awful! We had already been to 3 trainers when I called Joe after seeing him at Mashpee Commons with a group of well behaved dogs, thats what I desperately wanted! Joe came over and Immediately educated me on why Scooch was doing some of the problem behaviors and how to correct him! Joe is so knowledgeable about Dog psychology and I’ve realized how important it is to not only correct bad behavior but to know why they are doing it! I am so grateful for Joe and have learned so much from him. I am now able to bring Scooch anywhere with no worries at all about his behavior especially seeing other dogs! Scooch also passed his Good Citizen test last year and will hopefully get into a therapy program in the near future! Something I never could have imagined before Joe! Scooch and I look forward to the Saturday training walks that Joe does at Mashpee Commons and go to as many as we can! Such a great resource that Joe offers to keep up with our training and is so enjoyable for both Scooch and myself! We highly recommend Joe!!
