About the Trainer
Dog’s Day Out is a science-based, positive reinforcement dog training and daycare center serving Seattle and surrounding areas. They offer group classes, private lessons, and intensive drop-off programs for puppies, adolescents, and adult dogs, all focused on fear-free, force-free methods. Their training is led by certified professionals, including Danette Johnston, CPDT-KA, CFFP, FDM, who emphasizes cooperative, effective, and fun training techniques. In addition to training, they provide dog daycare services at two locations—Ballard and Burien—with structured play, supervised socialization, and behavior guidance. They also offer educational webinars, puppy parenting courses, and a unique “Barks & Babes” program to prepare dogs for life with babies. Their facility-based programs include structured drop-off camps for puppies and teens, with small class sizes and certified trainers present at all times.
They prioritize early socialization, encouraging owners to begin training before 16 weeks of age, and provide evidence-based resources from the AVMA and ASAB. Their programs are designed to build confidence, improve communication, and prevent behavioral issues through positive reinforcement, clicker training, and structured play. They also offer specialized small dog play groups and teen play groups with human participation to support owner education.
Dog’s Day Out is committed to helping owners understand their dog’s behavior and provides ongoing support through blogs, workshops, and direct trainer access. Their services are tailored for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, with clear vaccination and spay/neuter requirements for group programs.
