The primary focus at Dogwood Training Center is now on Scent Work, with classes and occasional run-thrus offered on Saturdays, exclusively for current Dogwood students.
While agility classes have ended, the indoor arena is still set with a new agility course weekly, and current students can rent it to work on their own. Only a few private agility lessons are available for existing students, and no new agility students are being accepted.
Barn Hunt classes are currently discontinued and on hold, though future clinics or practices might be offered. Canine Conditioning and Fitness programs are available, both in-person and remotely, designed to address specific needs for performance dogs and family companions. Structure and Gait Analysis is also offered to help identify issues for conditioning programs or for veterinary evaluations.
About the Trainer
Dogwood Training Center, owned and trained by Sally Boarman, primarily focuses on Scent Work classes and occasional run-thrus. The facility is located in a rural setting just north of Columbus, Ohio, featuring an indoor arena and a fenced 5-acre property, which provides a safe and relaxing atmosphere. Sally Boarman is a Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer and emphasizes a very positive approach, prioritizing fun for both the dog and handler.
Agility classes have ended, and only a few private lessons are offered to current students, with no new agility students being accepted. Barn Hunt is currently on hold, though clinics or practices may be offered in the future. The owner is attempting to semi-retire.
Accomplishments
Sally Boarman, the owner and trainer, has been training dogs informally and formally since the early 1990s. She helped establish the first Flyball team in Greenbelt, MD, known as the “Greenbelt Flyers.”
She is a Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer. Sally purchased Dogwood Training Center in 2007, moving to Ohio to pursue her passion for dog training.
Her dog, Aussie, achieved MACH3 title, competed in the AKC National Agility Championship multiple times, finishing 11th out of 30 dogs in the Finals in 2013. Aussie also ranked in the top 50 Australian Shepherds in AKC from 2008-2010. Her Border Collie, Fly, competed at the Master level in AKC and dabbled in USDAA, NADAC, and CPE, also attending the Border Collie Specialty and CPE Nationals. Her dog Dazzle and Declan also progressed to the Master level in AKC agility.
