Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Dolphins to Dogs Animal Training offers several programs. Group Puppy Classes are 6 weeks long for puppies 12 weeks to 6 months, focusing on name recognition, basic commands (sit, down, recall, wait), leash walking, “Take it” and “Leave it,” crate training, and behavior modifications for chewing, mouthing, and jumping, with puppy socialization.

Group Classes for dogs 6 months to 1 year are also 6 weeks, covering name recognition, basic commands, leash manners, “settle,” “Take it,” “Leave it,” “place,” and behavior modifications for chewing, mouthing, and jumping, including socialization. Virtual Training Sessions provide a convenient way to work on basic behaviors from home.

Introductory Training uses positive reinforcement to introduce puppies or dogs to basic obedience, focusing on attention, listening skills, recall, name recognition, basic commands, loose leash walking, crate training, and preventing resource guarding and leash reactivity. Behavior Modification Training consists of personalized one-on-one sessions tailored to address specific unwanted behaviors. Half Day Board and Train Programs involve four hours a day working on inside behaviors, manners, car maintenance, leash skills, and public exposure.

Testimonials

“How do I even begin to describe how awesome Angela is? I love my pup Denver but before Angela walks were a real struggle. He would pull at everything and had absolutely 0 off leash skills. Angela came and changed all of that. At the first consultation she was able to pinpoint exactly what areas needed help.and suggest training tools for us to use. Because of her suggestions before we even got started Denver was improving. Then once we got to in person training it was like light and day. I was totally blown away not just by how much she knows and how much she’s able to help but at how quickly it all happened. She took my tugboat of a dog and turned him into the most gentle boy on the block. He can run off leash, responds to commands and doesn’t pull at all. And it doesn’t stop with the dogs. Angela also helped my confidence as a trainer. Unlike other trainers that come in and take things over Angela gives you the tools to be a successful dog owner. 10/10 would recommend.”

“After adopting a dog with severe anxiety, I knew that we needed a bit more help than what I could normally handle, and to help make sure our little guy was living his best life. I am so glad we were referred to Angela as she was able to quickly identify some key areas that we needed to work on with Archie to help make him more comfortable, confident, and well mannered. Within a few sessions we were able to see a large change in his response to commands, pulling on a leash, and generally being naughty in trying to eat everything. In the middle of training sessions we ended up with another foster pup and Angela was incredibly gracious with helping us manage two dogs with different sets of needs. I would recommend Angela to anyone with a dog, regardless of how well trained they believe they are. She’s skilled, responsive, and thorough in providing tools, tips, and resources to make sure that we continue on the right path.”

“Angela is a life saver! I have a 5 year old adopted doggo that had been getting increasingly more aggressive towards other dogs as she aged. When we moved to the city, we couldn’t walk down a street without her growling, barking, and lunging at other pups. It was super embarrassing and walks were far more dramatic than needed. Within two sessions Angela taught me positive training techniques that worked wonders for my pup. She LOVES our training walks when we practice what we learned from Angela. The barking and lunging is a thing of the past and she’s even starting to enjoy playing with other dogs at the park. I can’t recommend her enough!”
