Eager Pup

Eager Pup offers classes and events in authentic K9 Nose Work®. This sport utilizes a dog’s incredible sense of smell, teaching them to sniff out target odors in various environments. These environments include interior spaces, collections of boxes and luggage, exterior spaces, and vehicles.

The K9 Nose Work community is inclusive, welcoming dogs of all ages, sizes, and capabilities, along with owners of all ages and abilities, for fun in classes and local, regional, and national competitions.

Eager Pup is a dog training business based in Gainesville, FL, specializing in authentic K9 Nose Work® classes and events. Their mission is to strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners through comprehensive programs suitable for dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes.

The training at Eager Pup is rooted in positive reinforcement methods, aiming to foster trust, cooperation, and confidence in dogs. Melanie Phillpot, the owner, leads the business with her expertise as a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) and Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA).

Melanie’s passion for K9 Nose Work began in 2011, and she holds a background in Psychology from Rhodes College. She operates under the belief that “It takes brains, not brawn, to raise a good dog!” and the motto “K9 Nose Work® – Sniffing Great Fun For Everyone!”

Accomplishments

Melanie Phillpot, the owner of Eager Pup, is a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) and holds a CPDT-KA certification. She has a background in Psychology from Rhodes College. Her passion for K9 Nose Work began in 2011.
