Agility classes are structured in progressive levels: Intro (8-week foundation), Beginning (weave poles, teeter, a-frame), Novice (full-height obstacles, 6-weave poles, handling), Intermediate (advanced coursework), and Competition (refined handling for trials). Puppy class focuses on relationship-building, clicker training, and low-intensity obstacles for dogs 4–10 months old. Rally Obedience complements agility training. Private and semi-private sessions available for customized pacing. Classes run year-round with beginner sessions typically starting in spring and fall.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Intro to Agility: $240 for 8 weeks paid in advance. Ongoing monthly fees: $30 per class for first dog, $25 per class for additional dogs. Drop-in rate: $35 per class. Private lessons: $60 per hour. Field rental: $10 per hour for enrolled students. No refunds after class starts; missed classes can be applied to next month’s fees.

Policies

Class fees are non-refundable after start. Missed classes may be applied to the next month’s fees. If Geri cancels due to weather, students receive a credit for the next month. Students must check the online calendar for cancellations, posted at least 2 hours before class. Visitors must call ahead and cannot bring children or dogs to observe.

About the Trainer

Elderwood Agility Stardogs is a dog agility training center located in Elderwood, California, founded by Geri Lu Jurey in 2002. The center offers year-round agility classes for dogs of all skill levels, from beginners to competitors, using positive reinforcement methods. Classes include Intro to Agility, Beginning, Novice, Intermediate, and Competition levels, with additional Puppy and Rally Obedience classes to build foundational skills and teamwork. Private and semi-private lessons are available for personalized training. The facility spans six acres with lush grass, well-maintained agility equipment, and ample parking. Geri has trained hundreds of dogs since 1999 and has competed successfully with her own dogs in ASCA events, earning national rankings. The center also hosts ASCA agility trials and provides photography services showcasing trained dogs.

Dogs must be at least 10 months old, current on vaccinations, and non-aggressive to participate in group classes. Children under 16 are not permitted in group classes but may attend private lessons with a parent. The facility encourages a fun, positive environment focused on handler-dog teamwork and confidence-building.

Additional services include field rentals for enrolled students and access to Geri’s photography website and YouTube channel featuring training tips and dog performances.

Accomplishments

Geri Lu Jurey has trained dogs since 1999 and founded Elderwood Agility in 2002. Her dogs have earned multiple ASCA titles and national rankings, including Sunny (#9 Open Jumpers and Gamblers in 2014), Vino (#10 Novice Gamblers in 2004), and Rita (#1 Novice Gamblers in 2008). The center hosts ASCA trials and maintains a high standard of equipment and training.
