About the Trainer
The Erie Kennel Club, incorporated in 1906, is the tenth oldest all-breed member club of the AKC and the oldest in Pennsylvania, operating as a 501C-4 non-profit organization. The club aims to further the advancement of purebred dogs, encourage sportsmanlike competition, and conduct sanctioned matches, conformation shows, and companion and performance events under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
They provide a well-lit, spacious, regulation-sized, rubber-matted 40’ x 50’ training ring with ring-side seating, good acoustics, crating space, and separate restrooms. Adjacent to the ring is a non-matted open area for meetings and a large outdoor space suitable for exercising dogs or outdoor training.
The club offers a variety of events throughout the year to promote sportsmanship and companionship through trainings, trials, and shows. They also maintain a breeder directory and are an AKC Fit Dog Club, encouraging dog health and fitness through regular exercise.

To become a member, individuals must download and complete the Erie Kennel Club Application for Membership. The application requires two sponsors who are current members; if no sponsors are available beforehand, they can be found at a meeting.
Applicants must attend two membership meetings within six months (the first meeting counts) and pay a $10 initiation fee. Additionally, eight hours of volunteering at any club event are required before membership acceptance. At the third meeting, the membership will vote on acceptance. Guests are always welcome at monthly meetings, and agility trials and all-breed shows are open to the public.
