The Alamo Dog Obedience Club offers a range of classes including Basic Manners I & II, S.T.A.R. Puppy, CGC, Intro to Scent Work, Competition Obedience, AKC Rally, and various levels of Agility from Beginner/Foundations to Advanced and Masters Coursework. Classes are typically 6 sessions for beginner levels or ongoing monthly for advanced.

Agility classes introduce dogs to equipment and vocabulary using positive methods, focusing on safety and confidence. Obedience classes cover basic commands like sit, stay, come, down, and leash manners. Rally classes focus on teamwork and enthusiasm through a course of signs. Fast CAT involves a timed 100-yard dash chasing a lure. Private lessons are available for agility, rally, and competition obedience. Prerequisites for agility classes include Basic Manners, puppy classes, or instructor approval. Required vaccines include Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordatella.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Most 6-week classes are $180. Some advanced agility and obedience classes are $100 for 4 weeks. Semi-private lessons are $40 per half hour. Drop-in agility sessions are $30. Fast CAT practice runs are 2 runs for $25. Payment is accepted via cash or check made out to ADOC. There are no refunds once classes have started.

There are no refunds once classes have started. Class size is limited. If you have an irregular work schedule, they can work with you to be in different classes depending on your schedule.

About the Trainer

Alamo Dog Obedience Club Training & Event Center, formerly Euro Dog Center, offers a variety of dog training classes and events in San Antonio, Texas. They provide training for obedience, agility, rally, and Fast CAT, catering to dogs and puppies needing basic manners, socialization, or preparation for AKC events. The facility is indoor and air-conditioned, featuring new agility equipment and a Fast CAT track.

The club emphasizes positive, motivational methods, focusing on safety and enjoyment for dogs of all levels. They offer classes for puppies and adult dogs, including Basic Manners, S.T.A.R. Puppy, CGC, Scent Work, Competition Obedience, and various levels of Agility. They also host AKC Fast CAT and Agility events throughout the year.

Instructors are experienced competitors and judges, with a passion for helping owners build strong relationships with their dogs. They offer both group classes and private lessons. The club also provides arena rentals and practice sessions for members and students.

Accomplishments

Joni Puckett is a retired schoolteacher and an AKC certified Canine Good Citizen instructor with over 30 years of experience giving private lessons.

Debbie Moore is an AKC agility Judge and a retired middle school science teacher. She has achieved 30+ obedience & rally titles on 5 different breeds and 30+ AKC & USDAA Agility Championships & titles on various breeds. Her toy poodle, April, was a three-time 8″ AKC National Agility Champion, and Louie is the first dog with the AKC Agility Grand Championship in the San Antonio area. She is the Alamo Dog Obedience Club Treasurer, president for the Poodle Club of San Antonio, Bexar County Kennel Club Agility Trial Chairperson, and Vice-President of the Bexar Regional Agility Team.

Christine Meyers has attained 59 titles on 5 different rescue dogs and competes at the Masters level in AKC and USDAA. Her border collie, Bekkah, achieved the AKC Agility Grand Championship in 2023. She is an ACT evaluator and serves as Chief course builder for agility trials.

Courtney Moore is a popular AKC, UKI & USDAA Agility Judge who started training dogs at a young age, earning a CD obedience title at 7. She trains and shows agility in multiple venues with her Border collie and Border-pap.

Helen Rhodes is a well-known trainer and exhibitor who successfully shows and titles her Siberian Huskies and Schipperke in conformation, obedience, rally, Fast CAT, and agility. She is the Vice-President of Alamo Dog Obedience Club.

Matt Palmieri taught agility and judged USDAA and UKI agility in California. He trains his German Shepherds, Cattle Dogs, and Border Collies in agility, rally, conformation, scent work, herding, and Fast CAT. He is also the winner of the 2020 Parade of Homes.

To get started, pre-register by emailing the signed registration forms and a copy of current shot records to the listed instructor. If registering late, bring all required documents to the first class. Payment (cash or check) is due at the first class.
