Testimonials

“I am so glad I found this place. Previously I had saved up to take my crazy lab to a different $1000 training program and they ended up using a collar on him without my consent and it did nothing beneficial in the long run. I honestly was feeling hopeless but after our first 6 week course my dog and I have tools we can use to make both of our lives easier. It’s also so nice that these classes are affordable because I wouldn’t be able to spend thousands of dollars on more dog training.”
– Paola R

“I’m SO glad this non-profit exists. Dog training is a “need”. We all deserve to have well behaved and trained dogs. But often, the pricing of training classes fall under the “want” category of spending. Every Dog bridges that gap to make training accessible for everyone. On top of that, their classes and trainers are top notch. We feel so comfortable in each class. The trainers are so great at explaining the training process as well as why we learn different cues. My pup knew a lot going into our first class, but the training stepped his game up even more! He’s learning new cues and commands within minutes. Seriously top notch team!”

About the Trainer

Every Dog Behavior and Training is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing inclusive and accessible dog training and behavior resources to the Austin community. They believe that everyone should have access to professional, ethical dog training and behavior support.

They offer a variety of services, including group classes for puppies, obedience, fearful dogs, and agility, as well as private training for personalized help. Their programs also include puppy training, adult manners, and specialty classes.

All trainers at Every Dog use positive reinforcement methods, explicitly avoiding shock collars, prong collars, and choke collars. Their trainers are certified or working toward certification with nationally-recognized credentials, and the team of trainers and behavior consultants works collaboratively to support clients.

A unique advantage is their commitment to accessibility, offering financial assistance on all training services to ensure cost is not a barrier. They also serve as a hub for dog training and behavior information, providing science-based, ethical resources and referrals.

Beyond direct training, Every Dog hosts a free monthly Webinar Speaker Series, highlighting underrepresented voices in dog behavior, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) trainers. They also run shelter dog classes for local animal shelters, provide financial assistance for veterinary behaviorist consultations, and offer mentorship opportunities for aspiring trainers, covering certification costs and continuing education. If Every Dog is not the right fit, they happily provide a referral list to other trainers.

She previously served as Shelter Operations Manager for Austin Animal Center. Michele Mendoza is a CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA, and Fear Free Certified, having started her own training facility in 2010 and trained thousands of dogs before working on the Behavior Team at Austin Animal Center.

The organization hosts a free monthly Webinar Speaker Series featuring nationally and internationally known experts, including a dedicated BIPOC Speaker Series to highlight underrepresented voices in dog behavior.

How to Get Started!

Clients unsure of the right training option can join a Virtual Orientation. Specific recommendations are provided based on dog age and needs: puppy training for dogs under 6 months, manners classes for dogs 6 months and older needing basic help, specialty classes for fun activities, and behavior consulting for issues like fear, reactivity, aggression, or anxiety. To request financial assistance, clients fill out a short online form, receive an automated email with codes, and then apply the appropriate code when booking services.
