Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Everyday K9 offers a tiered training program designed to strengthen the bond between dogs and humans, focusing on real-world problem-solving skills. The programs work like levels, allowing teams to progress.

The ‘Try-Outs’ program is an introductory option, costing $150 for 3 basic group classes to be used within 60 days. It focuses on calmness in public, leash handling, and confidence building.

The ‘Community’ program, priced at $1200 for 30 group classes over 245 days, is the core offering. It emphasizes creating calmness at home and in public, practicing walking by dogs, and includes fun community events. Classes meet weekly in the park to address real-world distractions.

For those seeking more advanced training, the ‘Kalm Club’ costs $2000 for 50 group classes over 400 days. This level fine-tunes traditional obedience skills, offers more one-on-one attention within group settings, and includes pack walks, Home Depot outings, and restaurant outings. A ‘Pay As You Go Program’ is also available, allowing clients to purchase classes in groups of 5 for $250.

Testimonials

“To say I highly recommend Heather and Chad as the best dog trainers in St. Pete wouldn’t even do justice to the impact they have had on my life with my dogs. I had been to two different trainers with my first German Shepherd and wanted to start out on the right path when I got my second shepherd. After months of researching dog trainers in the Tampa Bay Area before I even got my second puppy, I kept coming back to Everyday K9’s Facebook page. It appeared to be exactly what I was looking for-a balanced training program that also emphasized on training the handlers, not just the dogs. Plus it always looked like everyone was having fun! I am happy to report a year into joining their community that the EK9 community is exactly what you see on their social media ❤️ I have learned countless invaluable skills and lessons from Heather and Chad that have given me the confidence to navigate any real-world situation by myself with my two shepherds. I have also gained so many new friends through their community that I honestly look forward to going to classes every week! I have had friends and even acquaintances I haven’t spoken to in years reach out to me telling me they wished they had a training community like EK9 where they live! It truly is such a unique and special training community that I am so thankful so be a part of. I have witnessed my own dogs overcome separation anxiety, navigate some leash reactivity, and learn to exercise a calm mind-muscle in otherwise exciting/nerve-wracking situations (not an easy feat for drivey working dogs!). It is such an incredible feeling when someone compliments your dogs’ well-behaved manners, and I am so appreciative of EK9 for playing such a major role in that. Whether you are struggling with dog behavior issues, got a new puppy, or are just looking to learn to provide a more enjoyable lifestyle for you and your dog, you will not regret reaching out to Everyday K9 ❤️”

“Everyday K9 was my last resort before looking into finding my Shepherd/Husky mix Katara a new home. Two and a half years ago, Katara could not be handled on walks by my 63-year-old mom without being knocked over, and in the house her mannerisms led to hundreds of dollars of damage. At the veterinary office, she showed signs of aggression and could not be handled by anyone other than me without heavy sedation. I tried everything from the Easy Walk harness to the Gentle Leader, and nothing changed her anxious, hyper behavior. Now, Katara is a new dog. Everyday K9 training targets the behaviors causing problems in the household by helping humans instill a calm muscle memory in our dog that we can then learn to apply everywhere. The best thing about Everyday K9 is the family that forms between all the clients-we’re all there to learn and make our communication between ourselves and our pets more effective. It becomes a community, one that supports one another. Training with Everyday K9 has not only changed Katara to the point that my mom now enjoys walking her, but it’s also made me a better human and dog mom, too!”

“I found Everyday K9 training while frantically searching for trainers in the Tampa Bay Area that specialize in canine anxiety. I had been through 3 other trainers trying to find a way to help my 8 month old rescue, Noel, cope with severe fear and anxiety. I was at the point where I felt like we had tried everything and our vet even recommended I put Noel on anxiety medication. I felt hopeless – I could barely walk Noel down our quiet street without her freezing in fear from some unknown stressor. I wanted a better life for my dog! Then enters Heather and Chad, and they have literally changed our lives. We have been working with Everyday K9 for 8 months and Noel is a different dog from Day 1. She is becoming more confident by the day and is building coping skills and a “calm muscle” for dealing with the inevitable stressors of the world. Also, more importantly, I am learning how to confidently get her through moments of panic and to be the leader she needs. Our vet has noticed the massive changes in Noel’s behavior and has cut her anxiety medication dose in half, and we are on our way to getting her off them completely! I am so grateful to have found Everyday K9. We have gone from Day 1 of class: me needing to carry Noel across the park because she was too scared to walk through a quiet community park to get to class to now conquering walks in Downtown St Pete and Home Depot. Our vet visits have even changed from Noel cowering and hiding under my chair to her taking a nap while we wait! I owe everything to Heather and Chad’s guidance, patience and caring!”

Everyday K9 is a dog training business passionate about strengthening the relationship between dogs and humans. They aim to bridge the gap between pets and their owners by teaching community members how to foster calmness amidst daily life’s chaos.

Everyday K9 focuses on real-world problem-solving skills, addressing behavioral issues and building confidence in both dogs and their owners.

The business prides itself on building a supportive community where clients learn and grow together, often forming friendships. Heather and Chad, the trainers, are deeply committed to each dog and owner, providing personalized instruction even within group settings. Their training style combines behavioral training, obedience, and a holistic partnership approach.

Everyday K9 Training was established in 2016. Heather’s personal experience with her own reactive and dog-aggressive dogs, Gates and Mokey, has deeply informed her approach, allowing her to guide others through similar struggles.
