EZ Obedience

EZ Obedience offers a variety of group classes and private training options. Group classes include Puppy Kindergarten for puppies 12 weeks to 5 months, focusing on basic obedience and common puppy issues like biting and housebreaking. Beginner Obedience Level #1 is for dogs 5 months and older, covering foundational exercises like heeling, sit, down, stay, sit/stay, examine, and recall, with two instructors and a limit of 15 dogs.

Beginner Obedience Level #2 expands on basic skills, introducing pivots, figure 8, stand for exam, and off-leash heeling. Novice Class/Open refines basic obedience and can introduce dumbbell work and jumps, preparing dogs for Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) titles. Utility Class and Rally Class are also available, with Rally focusing on a fun, teamwork-oriented sport.

For specific needs or scheduling conflicts, the Obedience Quick Start Class offers customized individual half-hour or hour sessions. Private lessons are also available for advanced handlers in Novice, Open, and Utility, along with Ring Time Rental.

Pricing Summary

Puppy Kindergarten and Beginner Obedience Level #1 classes cost $100.00 for 6 weeks. Beginner Obedience Level #2 and Novice Class/Open are $85.00 for 6 or 8 weeks respectively, or $15.00 for single classes.

Utility Class is $15.00 per single class, and Rally Class is $65.00 for 6 weeks or $12.00 for a single class. The Nosework Class was previously $80 for 4 weeks, but current pricing is TBD.

Obedience Quick Start Class is priced at $30 for a half-hour session and $60 for an hour session. A $15 late charge applies for boarding pick-ups after closing hours. Gift certificates are available for dog boarding, obedience classes, and private lessons.

Policies

Pre-registration is preferred for classes, but walk-ins are welcome. For boarding, proof of current DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccinations is required at least 10 days prior to the visit, with no exceptions. New boarding clients must complete a “meet and greet” before their stay, and the facility reserves the right to deny boarding to unhealthy or aggressive pets.

General rules for the property include driving slowly (10 mph), respecting the property by not wandering around buildings, and ensuring children stay in the training room. Smoking is not allowed on the premises, and specific parking rules apply. Dog owners must potty their dogs before and during class in the designated area (west/right side of the building) and clean up after them, ensuring dogs do not urinate on or near the building.

For weather-related cancellations, clients will be notified by text or phone call, and the class will be made up at the end of the scheduled session. Clients are also asked to notify the trainer if they will miss a class. A $15 late charge applies for boarding pick-ups after closing hours.

EZ Obedience offers dog training and boarding services for all breeds and their owners in a professional and respectful environment. Their instructors have over 35 years of experience in canine obedience training, providing high-quality instruction for both well-mannered companion dogs and those aiming for competitive obedience titles.

They provide a comfortable and safe boarding facility with 5’x 8″ climate-controlled kennels, where the owner is on-site to give individual attention to each pet. EZ Obedience aims to help dog owners achieve their training goals, whether for basic manners or advanced competition.

Accomplishments

The instructors at EZ Obedience have over 35 years of experience in dog training and actively show in AKC, UKC, CKC, and ASCA Obedience. They are also ASCA Obedience judges.

Their dogs have achieved numerous titles and awards, including Cobblestone’s O Brother with AKC, CKC, ASCA, UKC – CDX, ASCA Std’s, AKC PT, CA, RN, TDI titles, and a New ACK CD Title. Cobblestone’s EZ as 1,2,3 “EZ” achieved 4 first places in Open B, 4 High in Trials, and was named Top Obedience Dog 2010 Dogs in Canada, also placing 2nd in total points for Australian Shepherds. Tinseltown Blue Ice holds AKC UD, OM1, BN, and ASCA UD titles. Other accomplishments include Elise and Cash as 4H Grand Champions, and Bo qualifying at Pre-Trials in Florida & Texas in Open B Obedience Finals, placing 1st, and qualifying in Duck Herding, Rally Novice, and National Obedience.

How to Get Started!

To get started with classes, pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. An Obedience Pre-Registration form is available. For boarding, two forms, EZ Boarding Registration and EZ Boarding Contract, need to be completed and mailed to Mary Witte at 18724 Vale Ave Hutchinson, MN 55350.

New boarding clients are required to come for a “meet and greet” before their pet’s stay. For the Obedience Quick Start Class or individual training, appointments can be set by calling Char or Gary at (612) 203-7829, available Mondays – Fridays, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., or by calling for other availability. Gift certificates are available for boarding, obedience classes, and private lessons.
