Testimonials
“Dont over think it.” That’s the best way I can explain Brook’s training process. Her direction was simple. Albeit not always easy, but simple. On the first visit Brook showed us how simple it was to teach our dog. Simple is not always easy, but it always simple. Brook is capable of helping you achieve a healthy and obedient relationship with your Dog. And she can do it without abusive force!
– Client
I met Brooke when I was walking my reactive dog in downtown Sherwood. She stopped to talk, giving me insight as to why my dog was reactive and how she could help with this behavior. Working with her, I learned my dog was reacting out of fear and anxiety, not aggression. She needed to feel confident in my leadership which became the focus of our training. Brooke implemented new tools that I wouldn’t have considered without her guidance and together we have made great improvements in my dog’s confidence. My dog even lay down with other dogs in her comfort bubble. Brooke is confident in her skills and will push you as the trainer to be a better leader for your dog. I highly recommend working with Brooke at Family Companions Dog Training.
– Client
Family Companions Dog Training has been an absolute game-changer for our German Shepherd. Brooke’s expertise in understanding canine behavior translates into effective and tangible results. Their commitment to affordability, coupled with a complimentary consultation at your convenience, adds tremendous value to their service. Brooke goes above and beyond by bringing one of her own K9 companions to aid in addressing any reactivity issues your dog may have, ensuring a comprehensive approach to training. This not only saves you from the stress of dealing with potentially embarrassing situations but also fosters a deeper bond between you and your furry friend. Having extensively researched various training options, I am confident in stating that Brooke stands out as the top choice. Unlike other facilities, that may promise quick fixes by taking your dog away for weeks, only to return with minimal improvement and a loss of connection with your dog, Brooke’s sessions are invaluable. They empower you with the skills and knowledge to effectively train your dog for a lifetime of obedience and companionship. Thanks to Brooke’s guidance, my dog has reached a service dog level of training. This transformation is a testament to the unparalleled quality of Family Companions Dog Training. Furthermore, Brooke understands my dog isn’t just a dog; he’s my best friend.

About the Trainer
Family Companions Dog Training is a professional dog training service led by Brooke, a certified dog trainer with 14 years of animal training experience, including 1000 hours of intensive internship at Huffman K9 Obedience. The business specializes in customized, psychology-based training that addresses each dog’s unique behavior, breed traits, and individual needs. Training focuses on balance, structure, and reliability to eliminate stress and create lasting success. Services include private one-on-one sessions, group classes, and specialized training for behavior modification, service dogs, therapy dogs, detection, tracking, and off-leash obedience. Brooke uses her own highly trained dogs, including Pooka—a certified detection and tracking dog—to help socialize reactive or fearful dogs. The training approach is rooted in understanding canine behavior rather than using force, with an emphasis on empowering owners with lifelong skills. Nail trimming is also offered as a supplemental service for current clients.
The business prioritizes open, honest communication and guarantees client success. Training packages are structured to suit varying needs—from single sessions to intensive 10-session plans—and group classes are available for clients who have completed private training. All training is conducted with the goal of building confidence, improving communication, and strengthening the human-dog bond.
Brooke has trained dogs in a wide range of specialties including narcotics, firearms, explosives, and truffle detection, as well as service and therapy dogs, demonstrating deep expertise across behavioral and working disciplines.
Accomplishments

Her own dog, Pooka, is a certified detection dog through C.N.C.A. and has been deployed on professional teams.
