Programs include the Puppy or Dog Basic Manners Package, which covers loose leash walking, recall, potty training, socialization, greeting visitors, and consistent good behavior for pups eight weeks and older.

Single Sessions provide one-on-one instruction for basic training, puppy socialization tips, and addressing specific problem behaviors like chewing, barking, recall, greeting visitors, biting, jumping, and counter surfing. The Post Puppy Arrival session is designed for new puppy owners to manage problem behaviors and basic manners using positive methods. A Pre-Puppy Planning consultation is also available to prepare households for a new pup, covering safety, house rules, play, exercise, toys, equipment, behavior management, and socialization.

Pricing Summary

The Puppy or Dog Basic Manners Package costs $275 for a minimum of three one-hour in-home sessions. Single one-hour in-home sessions are available for $95 each. This pricing applies to Single Sessions, Post Puppy Arrival sessions, and Pre-Puppy Planning consultations. Policies regarding registration and refunds are in place and should be reviewed before payment.

About the Trainer

Family Dog Training provides positive dog training and fitness services for family dogs, aiming to help them fit smoothly into family life. They work with owners and their pups on basic dog manners, housebreaking, socialization, loose leash walking, strengthening the bond, and dog fitness, addressing various behavioral issues.

The business specializes in working with young dogs, from puppies to older pups, to build a strong foundation. They are Master Trainers in dog fitness for all ages and help pet owners understand what a dog needs to thrive, including regular exercise, socialization, consistency, positive reinforcement, and a great bond. They also incorporate humor to make the training process enjoyable for both pets and owners.

Founder Kris Furrow, an East Cobb resident for over 30 years, provides positive, force-free training techniques. She focuses on bond-based training, teamwork between trainer, owner, and dog, setting proper expectations, and building a strong bond. Kris’s approach is centered on love and kindness, believing positive training is most effective for good behavior and lasting companionship.

Accomplishments

Kris Furrow has over 12 years of experience as a volunteer with dog rescue organizations, assistance dogs, and shelters, in addition to her work as a professional trainer. She is a FitPAWS Master Trainer, a Certified K9 Fit Club Master Trainer, and a Wag it Games Trainer. She is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and has a pending CPDT-KA Certification from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.

Kris holds a Professional License in Teaching for Secondary School, an M.S. in Education from Ohio State University, and a B.S. from Purdue University. Her volunteer experience includes the Columbus Zoo, Adopt-A-Golden, Georgia Aquarium, and Canine Assistants. She also has over 30 years of experience in sales and management positions at IBM.
