Family K9 Training provides private training and board and train programs where the dog lives with the trainer for an extended period. The Board & Train Basic program, lasting 2-3 weeks, is for dogs 6 months or older without aggression, fear, or anxiety, focusing on reliable recall and public obedience, including commands like Heel, Sit, Down, Come, Place, Kennel up, car, and door/entry manners.
The Board & Train Rehabilitation program, lasting 3-6 weeks, is designed for dogs experiencing issues such as separation anxiety, nervousness, fear, crate breaking, growling, resource guarding, attacking/lunging at people/dogs, killing small animals, destruction, nipping, snapping, or biting. This program focuses on the dog’s mindset and a total overhaul of the home lifestyle, including commands like Sit, Down, Come, Place, Kennel up, Out command, and waiting for food.
Both Board & Train programs are all-inclusive, providing a remote collar, long line, prong or other training collar, daily social media posts, weekly live training video sessions, free monthly pack walks, and follow-up care. Puppy Visits are available for dogs 2-5 months old, consisting of two one-hour private sessions covering house breaking, crate training, nipping, and basic commands, and include a training/prong collar, slip lead, and long line. Training days involve 1-2 hours of training with rest in kennels or on “place,” with socialization for qualified dogs. The overall approach is mindset-focused rather than solely obedience-focused, aiming for a relaxed state in dogs.

Policies
Family K9 Training does not guarantee training results, as success depends on the dog’s individual progress, owner consistency, and commitment. While the training foundation is expected to improve, the speed of results can vary.
For the safety and effectiveness of the training, facility visits are not permitted before signing up due to insurance and liability reasons, though clients can see the facility at drop-off. Visitation during a dog’s training period is considered counter-productive and is not allowed.

How to Get Started!
To begin, clients can fill out a form to set up a free phone consultation. If unsure which program is suitable, Denise will evaluate the dog. Prospective clients are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the trainer’s style, philosophy, and tools by reviewing the website and videos to ensure a good fit.
Once ready to book, a date is selected, drop-off information and a contract are provided, and a deposit is collected to secure the drop-off day, with full payment due by the board and train start date. Clients only need to bring their dog on a leash, muzzled if applicable, and enough food for the program duration. A health clearance and fecal sample results are required before sending the dog for training.
