Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
Fetch the Leash offers a structured progression of group classes, starting with Puppy Preschool for young puppies (8-16 weeks), moving to Puppy Intermediate (16 weeks to 8 months), and then Beyond the Basics (6 months and up), which is required for advanced classes like Out & About, Rally Obedience, and Canine Good Citizen Prep. An alternative entry point for puppies 4-6 months and adult dogs 6+ months is The Family Dog class, which also leads to Beyond the Basics. Week 1 of some group classes is a human-only orientation.
Their Discover Burlington Puppy Camp is a drop-off service for puppies under 17 weeks, focusing on foundational life skills, socialization outings, and basic manners, with weekly online support and a personalized coaching session for owners. Day Training is another drop-off service where professional trainers work with dogs 2-3 times per week for a month, followed by weekly online coaching sessions for owners. Maintenance plans are available after two months.
Private Training provides one-on-one coaching for owners to teach their dogs, starting with an online consultation to create a customized training plan. This format is recommended for specific issues like fear, aggression, or preparing for a new dog. Separation Anxiety Online Training is a remote program that includes an initial live assessment, daily tailored training plans, weekly live online meetings, and ongoing coaching to help dogs overcome panic when left alone.
