First Class Dog Training is led by Hector Hernandez, a highly experienced professional dog trainer dedicated to helping dog owners achieve obedience with their canine companions. He excels in handling even the most challenging cases, including aggressive and uncontrollable dogs, by employing a diverse range of techniques combined with his unique intuition. Hector’s approach focuses on teaching both dogs and their owners, aiming to improve their interaction and foster a lasting relationship built on respectful obedience.
He offers both group obedience classes and private one-on-one lessons, ensuring personalized attention for every dog and owner. Hector is committed to never turning away a case, no matter how difficult the situation, and provides constructive insights and expertise to solve behavioral problems effectively.
Accomplishments
Hector Hernandez is a veteran, immigrant, entrepreneur, former law enforcement officer, and public speaker. His notable achievements include a City of Lansing PROCLAMATION award for Police K9 Training (1987), being a Certified Michigan State University Police K9 Instructor (1991-2000) and Certified Lansing Police Department K9 Instructor (1995-2010). He is the author of four books: “Naked Dog Obedience,” “Preparing Yourself for Dog Encounters,” “How to Train Your Dog Before Your Dog Trains You,” and “A Dog’s Bark.” He also produced “Preparing Yourself for Dog Encounters DVD’s,” is Michigan Commission On Law Enforcement Accredited, Veterinarian-Approved, an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and a N.A.C.S.W Nose work Judge (2013). He has been a paid consultant and speaker for various police agencies and companies like United States Postal Letter Carriers, Consumers Energy, and Board of Water and Light. He was recognized as a Lansing State Journal Local Hero in 2000 and is a Desert Storm Veteran.
