Fit Dog begins with a $50 evaluation to assess posture, gait, and physical capabilities. Based on results, customized programs are created for puppies, seniors, confidence-building, or general fitness. Sessions include stretching, strength exercises, obstacle work, water treadmill use, and recovery therapies like cold laser and tPEMF. Programs are offered as individual sessions, group classes, or full-day “Fit Camp” options. Nutrition consulting is available through Kelsey, a certified canine nutritionist. All programs are non-rehabilitative and require dogs to be cleared by a vet if recovering from injury or surgery.

Testimonials
“We absolutely LOVE Fit Dog and so do our pups Cooper and Charlie! Lindsey has been working with Cooper since Fit Dog opened and his confidence and strength are better now than when he was a puppy. Charlie started out afraid of the water treadmill and now looks forward to his sessions. I highly recommend Fit Dog if you’re looking for something fun and exciting to keep your pup engaged, happy, healthy and confident. The Fit Dog staff are amazing with all dogs and are fun humans to be around too!”

“Our Pug (Frankie) loves spending the day w Fit Coach Lindsey and crew. Lindsey spent over an hour assessing Frankie’s fitness goals and showing us the facility. We chose the ‘stay for the day’ fit classes. We drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon. During the day she goes through several customized activities/exercises to improve her overall health and prevent potential injuries. Lindsey is very knowledgeable and Frankie absolutely loves her time at Fit Dog MI. It’s worth every penny.”

“FitDog has helped my Goldendoodle, Charlie tremendously! I’m a huge advocate for health and wellness all around and my Charlie has been in such good hands for his fit sessions! Lindsey his trainer, give me constant updates and Charlie is SO happy – which makes me happy! Our dogs NEED the exercise and sometimes life gets in the way and I can’t give Charlie everything he needs – this is where FitDog is perfect for us! I drop him off first thing in the morning and know he will be in good hands and getting the exercise and love he needs. I can’t recommend FitDog enough!! All of our dogs need Kate, Lindsey, & FitDog in our lives.”

About the Trainer
Fit Dog Canine Fitness & Wellness is Macomb County’s first canine gym, offering customized fitness programs to improve dogs’ mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Founded by Kate Lochner and led by certified professionals including Lindsey (Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach and Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer) and Kelsey (Licensed Veterinary Technician, Certified Professional Canine Nutritionist, and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner), the facility focuses on strength, flexibility, balance, stamina, and confidence-building for dogs of all ages—from puppies to seniors. Services include water treadmill sessions, cold laser therapy, tPEMF™ therapy, nutrition consulting, and wellness referrals. Fit Dog does not provide rehabilitation for injured or post-surgical dogs but partners with Animal Rehab Center of Michigan for those needs. Programs are designed to prevent injury, manage weight, reduce anxiety, and enhance mobility, with sessions tailored to each dog’s unique needs. The team emphasizes holistic health and builds strong bonds with pet owners through personalized attention and ongoing support.
Ginger, a 16-year-old mutt who recovered from a torn ACL and life-threatening illness, is the inspiration behind the business. Her transformation motivated Kate to create a space where dogs can thrive through fitness, not just training. All staff are experienced dog lovers with certifications and veterinary backgrounds, ensuring expert, compassionate care.
Fit Dog offers individual, group, and fit camp programs at their facility in Shelby Township, MI, and does not provide in-home, boarding, or video services. Clients appreciate the staff’s dedication, with many noting dramatic improvements in their dogs’ energy, confidence, and mobility.
Accomplishments
Kate Lochner founded Fit Dog in 2022 after her dog Ginger’s remarkable recovery from ACL surgery and life-threatening illness. Lindsey is a Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCC) and Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer (CPCFT). Kelsey is a Licensed Veterinary Technician with 18 years of experience, a Certified Professional Canine Nutritionist (CPN), and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP). The team includes certified massage therapists and nutrition specialists with veterinary backgrounds.
