Testimonials
We found Fly Creek after a poor experience at another kennel and WOW! This is one of the best Kennels in the Billings area. Marty has an incredible amount of knowledge and care for the dogs in his care and it shows! The facility is top notch as well!

Marty is currently training our third English Lab. I can not say enough good things about Fly Creek Kennels and Marty – most of all that Marty loves the dogs, and the dogs absolutely love him back. A clean, professional, and kind place for your puppy to learn and grow.

I don’t worry about my Maggie one bit when I kennel her here at Fly Creek. Great people and Maggie always comes home happy!

About the Trainer
Fly Creek Kennels is a dog training and boarding facility located just outside Billings, Montana, founded in 2004 by certified canine trainer Marty Golden. The business specializes in Gun Dog Training for retrievers used in waterfowl and upland hunting, offering a structured 14-week Beginner program that progresses to Advanced and Expert levels, with training that includes obedience, force fetching, marking, blind retrieves, and handling under real hunting conditions. In addition to specialized gun dog training, they provide basic obedience training and full-service pet boarding for all dog types, sizes, and ages. Their 10-acre facility includes a large pond and a 2,000-square-foot kennel building, designed to give dogs ample space, fresh air, and personalized care. Marty emphasizes individual attention, training no more than 10 gun dogs at a time, and prioritizes building trust and confidence in each dog. They also offer DIY training tips and videos for owners who want to train at home.
The facility is known for its clean, professional environment and strong client relationships, with many owners reporting their dogs return happy and well-behaved after boarding or training. Marty’s background includes education at Triple Crown Dog Academy (now Starmark Academy) and hands-on apprenticeship with top trainers, giving him deep expertise in canine behavior and training techniques.
Fly Creek Kennels also provides boarding services for dogs while owners are away, ensuring dogs are exercised, safe, and treated like family. They offer a limited number of boarding spots to maintain quality care and encourage client visits during training to monitor progress.
Accomplishments
Marty Golden is a graduate of Triple Crown Dog Academy (now Starmark Academy), where he trained at the top of his class and completed a seven-month apprenticeship in the gun dog department. He has trained dogs alongside some of the top trainers in the world and founded Big Sky Dog Training in 2004, which evolved into Fly Creek Kennels in 2007 with the opening of a 10-acre training and boarding facility.
