Fly-n-Gun Kennels offers custom-tailored training programs for dogs and handlers, operating seven days a week during daylight hours, with formal lessons five to six days a week. Training primarily occurs on-site during spring, summer, and fall, with occasional travel to natural habitats and game preserves for wild bird exposure.

Winter months include general obedience training and optional training trips to the Southern United States. Programs for bird dogs include Jump Start, Puppy Development, Field Obedience & Collar Foundation, Trained Retrieve, and Conditioning.

General Obedience is available for any dog. All dog training programs include basic owner education, with an advanced Handler Education Program available for those wanting to deepen their handling skills. This program involves private instruction and working side-by-side with trainers, focusing on the Silent Command System™, reading dog body language, and handling multiple dogs.

Pricing Summary

Handler Education is $150 per lesson (3 hours), plus tax. Boarding is $30 per day or $200 per week, plus tax. They state they offer competitive pricing.

Craig Steinbach has a “Lifetime Competitor Standings” with 74 Super Major Championships and 53 Major Championships as of April 1, 2018, through the National Bird Dog Circuit. They have successfully campaigned at upland hunt tests for years. They also host Huntsmith Seminars with Mr. Rick Smith.

How to Get Started!

Dog owners can call to reserve a spot for training, as the schedule fills quickly. They offer a free initial consultation to discuss needs and see their training methods. For boarding, clients need to bring a completed Training Agreement & Waiver of Liability Form, current vaccination records (including Canine Bordetella), and optionally, their dog’s food and medications.
