Testimonials

From my first time going to Follow the Leda a little less than a year ago, I was amazed by all of the trainers and fellow handlers at the facility. Everyone here has been so supportive and the energy is always positive and upbeat. It makes for an awesome training environment filled with fun, encouragement, and progress. I have loved all of the classes, workshops, and events I’ve gone to and can’t wait to attend plenty more! I look forward to going to class every week and have loved getting to see all the improvements in my dog and myself as a handler thanks to the help of all of the trainers. I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve taught me and I am so excited to continue my agility journey with them!

From time to time, I “pinch hit” for my daughter and bring her 4-year old Lab to Follow the Leda for agility training. I always have a great experience and learn new ways to position my body so the dog knows what I want her to do (which actually helps tremendously everywhere in daily life!). Each session is intellectually and physically challenging and stimulating in the best way. The trainers and fellow classmates are positive, supportive, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I always have a great time and highly recommend!!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about FTL. I would (and do!!) encourage anyone looking to do agility to learn from the best at FTL. Tara and her instructors are amazing at what they do and safety is always prioritized (!!!). Education at FTL is tailored to you, your dog, and your goals! If you want to be a top level competitor, this is the place to be! If you have a dog that needs to build confidence and find fun in dog sports, this is the place to be for that too!! Tara creates a super supportive, fun, and relaxing (yet challenging) environment that makes agility class not only your dogs happy place, but yours too!!

About the Trainer

Follow the Leda is a dog agility training business founded and led by Tara Baggerman, who has over 25 years of experience training and competing with her own agility dogs. The business specializes exclusively in dog agility training for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and experience levels—from puppies to seasoned competitors. Tara offers group classes, private lessons, online lessons, foundation training, workshops, and seminars led by nationally recognized instructors like Lee Gibson and Andy Winther. The facility is located in Gansevoort, NY, and features a fully equipped agility arena. Tara is a UK Agility International judge and has won multiple national championships with her dogs, including three UKI Canada Open titles with Hera. The training emphasizes safe, long-term skill development through foundation games, positive reinforcement, and distraction-proofing. The business also hosts UKI trials, AKC ACT events, and annual competitions like the Winter Cup. Visitors are welcome by appointment only, and the facility is adjacent to The Wuffdorf Astoria, which offers grooming, boarding, and day care services.

All training is focused on agility; no other dog training services like behavior modification or obedience are offered. Classes are highly sought after, with waitlists often lasting several months to over a year. Private lessons are available but typically booked 2–3 months in advance. Foundation training is recommended for all dogs, even experienced ones, to build confidence, recall, impulse control, and reinforcement drive before obstacle work.

Tara’s approach is tailored to individual goals, whether the owner wants a fun family activity or a competitive edge. The training environment is described by clients as supportive, positive, and highly educational, with instructors who are knowledgeable, patient, and safety-focused.

Accomplishments
