For Love of Dogs offers several structured programs. The Boarding School is a two-week intensive program where dogs learn good manners and decision-making skills while living with PK’s home pack (no kennels). Owners are required to attend two 2-hour classes per week during this period to learn what their dog has learned, ensuring a smooth transition home. PK also provides follow-up visits.
Classes are private, exclusive, and tailored to individual needs, requiring an 8-class commitment (two 2-hour classes per week). They cover communication, decision-making, and addressing behavioral issues for puppies and adult dogs. Weekend Camps are intensive, private, two-day programs (Saturday and Sunday) designed to quickly solve significant problems, focusing on two-way communication, canine self-relaxation, and perception modification.
Private consultations are available by phone, in-home, or virtually, offering personalized problem-solving and guidance. The training emphasizes teaching dogs to make sound, safe decisions on their own, fostering cooperation and respect rather than management or coercion.

Testimonials
“PK doesn’t really belong in a dog trainer category. If there was a way to classify her as an animal teacher, dog communicator, healer of bad canine relationships, SATZ Specialist and still be findable through YELP, that would better describe her. For the past 3 three years I have been under the guidance of PK via long distance and in person. Her passion and her experience is contagious and inspiring. She not only teaches students how to better communicate and work with their canine companions but also inspires the students, through these teachings, to be a better person all around. Words cannot describe the depth of what she has taught me and the value it holds in my life with my dog. She has helped us become a communicating, mutually respecting and loving team. My dog is relaxed, confident, HAPPY, totally comfortable in all situations and this is noticeable to others who meet him. He is the ambassador for all those dogs out there who are begging their family members to communicate with them. If only PK could be everywhere at one time!!! She’s invaluable and anyone who has the chance to work with her should run, not walk, to her. Your life with your dog will be forever bettered!!!”

“My Rottweiler had bitten a young boy. I told my family that if he bit again, I would have him put down. Then, we went to PK’s camp for 2 days and WOW, what a difference. Now my dog, Rex, is a much gentler dog who has learned to control his emotions and all due to PK’s SATZ experience. I would not have thought that just 2 days would have me not only understanding how my dog thinks and feels but that my dog would be able to control himself by learning self-relaxation. Since our time with PK, he has been much more relaxed and confident in his ability to control himself in any situation. I would highly, highly recommend anyone who wants a better experience with their dog to give PK a call and see what just 2 days can do for your relationship with your friend.”

“You may never truly know how close to the end of my rope I was when I found you. After so many sleepless nights, conflicted readings, cruel advice and 8 weeks of degrading dog classes (for both of us) , I had begun to fear that my love for ZuZu was steadily declining because all I could see were the problems. After all, when an “expert” dog trainer tells you “she’s too much dog for you” it;s easy to believe you’ll never solve any problems. How can I thank you for being so different? For hours on the phone? For hours on the floor? Most of all, for loving my girls and showing me how smart, loyal and special my ZuZu is so I could love her again as well. You made learning and working with her fun. I loved every class. From session #1 I kept thinking “why doesn’t everyone know about this?” I pray you achieve your center and your TV show! Show everyone how EASY and FUN it can be EVEN when rehabbing a hyper, manner less, dog aggressive beast and a shy, bullied Beagle! Thank you for everything and we want more! With sincere appreciation and amazement . . .”

About the Trainer
For Love of Dogs Canine/Human Relations LLC, led by PK, aims to revolutionize canine/human relationships by promoting mutual communication, cooperation, and respect. Their mission is to help dogs achieve autonomy and teach humans that working with their dogs is not complicated, encouraging simplicity over confusion, coercion, and fear. They teach dogs to make good, reasoned decisions and help owners understand their dogs’ language.
The business offers a variety of services including Boarding School, private Classes, Weekend Camps, Workshops, and Private Consultations (in-person, phone, and virtual). PK specializes in working with dangerously reactive dogs and is a consummate problem solver, with a particular passion for helping deaf and blind dogs live enriched and safe lives.
A unique advantage is PK’s proprietary Safe Alternative Teaching Zone Method (SATZ), which focuses on teaching dogs self-control through self-relaxation and clear communication, rather than traditional “do-it-now” or force-based methods. The facility is described as bright, cheerful, and carpeted, providing a safe and happy learning environment for both people and dogs.
Accomplishments
PK has been involved with dogs for over 57 years, training in various fields including obedience, protection, drovers, confirmation, grooming, hunt terriers, service, therapy, agility, crisis response, and companion dogs. In 1986, she taught the first Canine Stewardship classes for Lake County 4H, focusing on positive feedback. In 1998, she helped establish Jack Russells Online, the largest non-commercial Jack Russell website at the time, and wrote a popular advice column for two years.
She has worked at the Woodgreen Shelter Development Days in the UK and was one of only five Certified Trainers at The NCPG Horse Project in the Netherlands, where she introduced inter-species communication to German, Belgium, and Dutch trainers. PK participated in a study with animal ethologist Dr. Daniel Mills and Kayce Cover (creator of SATS). She was one of the first eight people globally to be certified as a SATS LL1 Trainer in 2004 and is the sole creator and keeper of The Safe Alternative Teaching Zone Method.
PK co-hosted “The Canine Mutiny” Blog Talk Radio show for two years and judged the first USA Working Trials Rally Competition. In 2009, she established The Original Venison Project, distributing free venison to rescues and dog owners in need.
