Testimonials

“I brought my dog here for training several years ago and did not return after the first class (which was only 30 minutes!!). The space is loud and chaotic, not at all conducive for training. Our trainer insisted a prong collar was the only way she was going to train. A good trainer doesn’t need a tool like that, they should be thoroughly trained in positive reinforcement. After working with the facility to cancel the rest of our classes, the woman I was working with said she would shred the check I sent for payment and instead it was deposited (I did get the money back). I do not recommend this facility to anybody until they get better trainers that use positive reinforcement training.”

“Enrolled in the 8 week beginner puppy class. Chris is awesome at demonstrating everything and my puppy has definitely seen improvement. The space is a bit hard to hear but it’s easy to catch on to what they want you to do. Would definitely recommend taking classes and will be continuing to use them in the future!”

About the Trainer

Fox Valley Dog Training Club (FVDTC) is a community-based dog training organization founded in 1948, offering group training classes at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, Illinois. They provide a full range of obedience classes including Puppy, Beginner, Advanced, CGC Prep, Rally, Conformation, Novice Ring Ready, Open, and Utility levels, with sessions running weekly from January to March. FVDTC welcomes all breeds, including mixed breeds, and supports participation in AKC and UKC events. The club emphasizes building a strong bond between owners and dogs through consistent training and offers specialized programs for therapy dogs, agility, tracking, herding, and working dogs. Members can earn work credits through volunteering and are eligible for annual awards recognizing service and achievements. The club fosters a supportive, family-oriented environment with events, newsletters, and community outreach.

FVDTC also offers drop-in classes like Focus Attitude Training and sponsors 4-H K-9 Buddies Club. They host AKC-sanctioned trials in obedience, rally, and agility, and provide seminars and workshops. Their motto is “A well-trained dog is a happy dog,” and they encourage owners to train their dogs using the skills taught in class.

The club operates on a membership model, with discounted class rates for members. Non-members pay higher fees. They do not offer private in-home, board-and-train, or day training services.

FVDTC is not a breeder, groomer, boarding facility, or pet store. They focus exclusively on training and community engagement.
