K9 RRS products are covered by a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase for defects or shipping damage, with repair or replacement. The warranty is voided by misuse, tampering, or use not as described in tutorials and manuals. Customers are responsible for all shipping fees for warranty claims.
Product returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase if the item is in its original, unused, unopened, undamaged condition and original packaging. Returns are subject to a cleaning, restocking, and processing fee not exceeding 25% of the original purchase price (excluding shipping, tax, or other fees). Returns must be authorized by Canine Detection Services LLC via email, and proof of purchase is required. Return payments are processed within 30 days of product receipt.

Fred Helfers and Canine Detection Services specialize in K9 Scent Detection and Nosework. Fred Helfers is a K9 Master Trainer, author, and inventor, recognized as a Detection Canine Expert with over 40 years of experience in the field, starting his career in 1982. He served over 25 years in law enforcement, personally handling and training two drug detection dogs.
Since then, he has trained thousands of detection canines and handlers across multiple specialties, including narcotics, accelerants, natural gas, insects, and spoiled products. He operated a professional detection dog training facility for over 20 years, working with both law enforcement and civilian teams.
Fred is the author of “The Nosework Handler” and the inventor of a patented scent-based training system, the K9-Remote Reward System (RRS). He is a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) and serves as a judge and certifying official (ORT) for the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) and the Australian Canine Scent Work (ACSW). The business also sells K9 detection training equipment, nosework books, and offers training videos and webinars.

Fred Helfers is a K9 Master Trainer, author, and inventor, recognized as a Detection Canine Expert with over 40 years of experience since 1982. He served over 25 years in law enforcement, handling and training two drug detection dogs, and has trained thousands of detection canines and handlers in various specialties. He operated a professional detection dog training facility for over 20 years and was the contracted state trainer for the Oregon State Police Canine Unit for 20 years.
He is recognized as an expert witness in state and federal courts on detection canines. Fred is the past president of the Washington State Police Canine Association and the founding president and president emeritus of the Pacific Northwest Police Detection Dog Association (PNWK9.org). He was a founding member of the Scientific Working Group on Dog and Orthogonal Factors (SWGDOG 2005 – 2012) and served on the Dogs and Sensors Subcommittee of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) from 2014 to 2024. In 2012, he developed and implemented Double Blind certification protocols now integral to detection dog certifications. He is the author of “The Nosework Handler” and inventor of a patented scent-based training system.
