Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Good Dog Training offers two main programs: Private Lessons and Home School.

Private Lessons are one-hour sessions that can occur as frequently as once a week. During these sessions, the trainer works with the dog and demonstrates handling, but the primary focus is on teaching the owner the necessary handling skills to train their dog independently outside of lessons.

Home School involves the trainer coming to the client’s home to work one-on-one with the dog for an hour a day for ten days. This hour includes multiple 10-15 minute training sessions with intermittent breaks. Additionally, clients receive two sessions where the trainer works with both the owner and dog, demonstrating learned behaviors and allowing the owner to practice to ensure consistent results. Daily progress reports and weekly owner lessons are provided.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Standard pricing for private lessons is $100 per session. Home School training is $1000 for 12 days, payable in up to four installments, starting with a $250 deposit.

Sliding scale rates are available for those who qualify, requiring proof of income (three most recent pay stubs or most recent year’s tax returns). For single income households of $35,000-$40,000 annually or dual income households of $55,000-$60,000 annually, private lessons are $85 per lesson and Home School is $800 (payable in up to four installments). For single income households less than $35,000 annually or dual income households less than $55,000 annually, private lessons are $70 per lesson and Home School is $700 (payable in up to four installments).

Policies

Clients understand that the success of their dog’s training depends on their commitment to consistent practice of the methods taught. No refunds of any kind will be issued for services rendered.

For private lessons, a $50 same-day cancellation fee is charged if cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time. If a private lesson is cancelled within thirty minutes of the scheduled start time, the client is responsible for the full cost of the lesson. For Home School training, if cancelled within 72 hours of the dog’s first scheduled training session, the deposit will be kept by Good Dog Training LLC.

Testimonials

“Carrie is an incredible trainer. After a few months at home, our rescue hound started barking and jumping uncontrollably every time we encountered another dog on a walk. We knew pretty quickly we needed a trainer who would provide customized, one on one attention for Buckley. Carrie was the perfect fit- she customized a plan that fit our schedule and Buckley’s needs, without trying to sell us on unnecessary services or extra time. Her instructions are simple to follow, manageable and yield results very quickly. Buckley is now an excellent walker, who can easily pass other dogs without much more than a glance. If you want to help your dog be the best version of themselves they can be, you won’t regret hiring Carrie.”
– Megan S. & Buckley the hound mix

“We couldn’t be happier! Carrie is amazing. Our one year old golden retriever was out of control. Now we have a well behaved dog that we now love; before Carrie we were not sure we were going to survive!”
– Michael M. & Dodger the Golden Retriever

“Our experience with Carrie was nothing short of amazing. After the home school program, our dog’s behavior on and off leash has improved drastically and we have learned great strategies to continue that improvement. Carrie’s patient and systematic approach were exactly what we needed. Would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for dog training.”
