About the Trainer
Goodness Dog Training LLC, led by Gie Carr, CPDT-KA and Certified Family Dog Mediator, offers games-based, positive reinforcement training for dog owners in Portland, Oregon, and virtually nationwide. Gie helps dog parents understand their dog’s breed-specific needs, modulate expectations, and build stronger relationships through fun, choice-based training that reinforces desired behaviors throughout the day. Services include private in-person or virtual training sessions, Play & Learn drop-in enrichment at her home, Board & Learn overnight care, Nail Care Training, and Zoom check-ins. She emphasizes humane, science-backed methods that build confidence and reduce stress in dogs, helping them thrive as family companions. Gie is fully licensed, bonded, insured, and Red Cross Pet First Aid/CPR certified.
She works with dogs of all ages from 8 weeks up, addressing common issues like leash pulling, reactivity, barking, separation anxiety, and potty training, while also supporting foundational skills for service, therapy, or ESA dogs. Her approach focuses on helping owners recognize how they unintentionally reinforce unwanted behaviors and how to turn everyday moments into training opportunities. She does not use corrections, force, or aversive tools.
Gie’s background includes volunteering as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind and leading training groups, which shaped her passion for positive, relationship-centered dog training. She offers a free 20–30 minute initial consultation to help clients determine the best path forward.
