Grand Island Kennel Club offers a range of dog training classes. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class (Puppy Kindergarten) is a 6-week program for puppies aged 10 weeks to 8 months, focusing on basic obedience and social skills.
Beginner Obedience is a 6-week class teaching fundamental obedience skills. Intermediate Obedience is also a 6-week session designed to proof skills learned in beginner class, increasing distance and duration, and adding new skills.
Conformation & Showmanship is a 6-week class that teaches owners how to show their dog in breed, covering entries, attire, and training for AKC dog shows. Agility classes (beginner and intermediate) are offered for dogs that have completed basic obedience and have a solid stay and recall, involving obstacles like jumps, tunnels, and A-frames. Rally is a sport that combines agility and obedience, where dogs and handlers navigate a course by reading signs.
