Great Outdoors Dog Training offers three main “Stay and Train” programs and an ongoing group class.
The Shooting Stars Puppy Program is for puppies aged 8 weeks to 4 months, involving 6 days of training in their home-based location. It focuses on potty and crate training, leash skills, home manners (e.g., no jumping, minimizing play biting, dropping objects), name response, recall introduction, and accepting handling. This program includes two private lessons and ongoing trainer support.
The Backcountry Basics Stay & Train program is for dogs over 5 months old, lasting 6 days and 5 nights. It covers leash manners, place command, recall, off/leave it, and wait/threshold boundaries. This program includes a remote training collar specific to the dog, three private lessons (one at drop-off, two post-training), and access to four consecutive Tails and Trails classes.
The Countryside Camp Board & Train program is for dogs over 5 months old and is a 21-day intensive program. It focuses on higher-level obedience, leadership, home and public manners, impulse control, and addresses minor anxiety or mild leash reactivity. This program includes multiple daily training sessions in various environments and public outings, video updates, educational content, a remote training collar, three private lessons (one at drop-off, two post-training), and access to four consecutive Tails and Trails classes. For major behaviors like severe reactivity or biting, a minimum 4-6 week stay and a rehabilitation program discussion are required.
Tails and Trails is a complimentary, ongoing group handling class available to clients who have completed one of their other programs. It takes place on the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 AM, offering continued practice and socialization.

About the Trainer
Great Outdoors Dog Training offers comprehensive dog training programs designed to help dog owners achieve a well-behaved companion. They provide both “Stay and Train” (board and train) programs and “Private Lessons” to address various needs from puppy basics to higher-level obedience and behavior modification.
Their unique advantages include a home-based training environment for their “Stay and Train” programs, allowing dogs to learn in a real-world setting. They focus on teaching not only the dog but also the owner how to live and communicate effectively with their dog, fostering a stronger bond. They also offer an ongoing group handling class, “Tails and Trails,” for graduates to continue practicing skills around distractions and for socialization.
The programs cover essential skills such as potty and crate training, leash manners, proper home manners (e.g., no jumping, minimizing play biting, dropping inappropriate objects), recall, and impulse control. They also address minor anxiety and mild leash reactivity. For major behavioral issues like severe reactivity, biting, or severe anxiety, they offer specialized rehabilitation programs on a case-by-case basis.
