Testimonials

Puppy kindergarten has been so, so valuable. It’s well managed and really helped my puppy come out of his shell around other dogs and people. Even as a pretty experienced dog owner and having done obedience and agility with previous dogs, I learned SO much from the trainers at puppy kindergarten. Each week I got solid advice on specific challenges I was having with my puppy, and implementing that guidance has made a HUGE improvement on how my puppy behaves and, thus, how fun he is to be around! Excited to take more classes here.

Absolutely professional. They’re advertising positive reinforcement training and doing just that. My pup and I are attending their puppy kindergarten and having a great time. They go at a comfortable speed and pace for your pup without overwhelming them but definitely challenging them. The entire class they are training you on how to deal with new situations, places, people, animals, etc. We were lucky to find them.

I love this place! My dog is currently attending the foundation manners class. The trainers are so knowledgeable. They are encouraging when you do things well and helpful when you need some guidance. They are also very loving to the dogs. I feel like I’m learning a lot with people who genuinely care about my dog.

About the Trainer

The Greater Saint Louis Training Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to force-free, positive reinforcement training for dogs in the St. Louis area. They offer group classes for puppies, family dogs, and foundational manners, all taught using science-based methods including clicker training. Their curriculum emphasizes building trust, communication, and a strong human-canine bond, with a focus on preventing unwanted behaviors through positive teaching rather than punishment. They provide extensive free educational resources on puppy socialization, dog body language, and behavior, and maintain a referral list for private trainers. Their classes are held at Shrewsbury City Center, and they require Bordetella and age-appropriate vaccinations for all dogs. They also host obedience and rally trials and offer online seminars as prerequisites for group classes.

Their training philosophy is endorsed by local veterinarians, including Dr. Stephen A. Brammeier of Kingsbury Animal Hospital. They prioritize creating a safe, supportive environment for both dogs and owners, with trainers who are knowledgeable, encouraging, and focused on the dog’s emotional well-being. The organization is volunteer-driven and offers opportunities for members to get involved through volunteering and membership.

They also provide specialized programs for puppies aged 8–14 weeks, family dog training, and foundational manners, with a strong emphasis on early socialization and life skills that prevent future behavioral issues.
