Griffith Retrievers offers several training programs. The GR Obedience program covers general and basic commands and manners, including “here,” “heel,” “sit,” “stay,” and “place,” taught both on and off-leash with whistle commands and collar conditioning.
The GR Simple Retriever training focuses on basic retrieval skills, enabling dogs to sit and come on whistle, retrieve single marks, and deliver to hand. Completion of the obedience training is a prerequisite for this course.
The GR Advanced Retriever (Gun Dog) course includes force fetch, introduction to guns and birds, honoring another dog’s retrieve, working through decoys, and retrieving doubles or triples up to 100 yards, as well as blind retrieves. This course is customized based on the customer’s needs, hunting style, and terrain, and requires prior completion of the obedience course. An additional fee applies for live bird introduction.
The GR Tune Up is a one-month course designed for dogs that have completed one of their retriever courses and need preparation for the upcoming hunting season. Advance notification is required to reserve a spot, and an additional fee applies if live birds are requested.
