GCR offers two main programs: the Winter Program (November 1 – March 1) and the Summer Program (April 1 – October 31). The Winter Program focuses on basic obedience, collar conditioning, force fetch, marking singles, and introduction to gun fire.
The Summer Program aims to advance dogs to mastery of their gun dog system, solidifying basic obedience, collar conditioning, and force fetch if needed, with the goal of producing an exceptional field companion for hunting season. GCR also offers seasonal outdoor runs for “refresher” training.

Pricing for kennel, board, and training is available upon calling. Live bird fees are additional but are discussed with the client prior to charging, ensuring transparency.

About the Trainer
Guides Choice Retrievers (GCR) specializes in turning pups into premiere working dogs, primarily serving professional guides and serious hunters. Owner Kyle Fagler, a former waterfowl guide of 17 years, brings extensive experience in training dogs from basic obedience to advanced gun dog skills.
GCR treats each dog like family, with Kyle, his daughter, and staff providing daily attention and interaction even outside of training sessions. Their facility is an all-seasons building, heated in winter and insulated for summer, with a limited kennel space of 18 dogs to ensure focused individual attention.
Accomplishments
Owner Kyle Fagler was a waterfowl guide for 17 years (14 years full-time, 3 years part-time), providing him with extensive experience in understanding what a hunter needs in the field and training gun dogs.
