About the Trainer

Hamilton Dog Training Club Inc (HDTC) is a non-profit organization serving the Ohio community for over 70 years, dedicated to improving the relationship between dogs and their owners. They train owners to train their dogs, offering a wide variety of fun and challenging activities.

HDTC provides pet and competition obedience classes, agility, conformation, rally, and therapy classes. They also hold annual obedience, agility, and rally trials, attend community activities, and are involved in therapy and educational visits to nursing homes, hospitals, and schools.

The club operates in its own building, holding classes 4 or 5 nights a week and special events on weekends. They have a large, experienced, volunteer staff of individuals who are dedicated to providing excellent instruction, with instructors who also train and show their own dogs in various performance events.

Accomplishments

Hamilton Dog Training Club Inc (HDTC) celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2024, operating for over seventy years as a non-profit organization. They have a large, experienced, volunteer staff of instructors who not only teach but also attend training classes and seminars themselves, and train and show their own dogs in obedience, conformation, agility, and other performance events.

One of their legacy members, Helen O’Donohoe, was instrumental in the club’s formation and her dog, Black Chad, was the first HDTC dog to earn the Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH) title. The club has grown from holding classes one night a week in local school buildings to operating in its own building 4 or 5 nights a week with special events on weekends.
