She studied at the New York Academy for Dog Trainers under experienced professionals and has a background in rehabilitating rescue dogs. Happy Paws K-9 Academy also teaches children how to handle dogs through games, fostering a positive learning environment for both.

Accomplishments

Lorraine Siena Reid, the trainer, adopted a Harrier named Yogi who became a certified therapy dog. She transitioned from a corporate career to dog training, studying at the New York Academy for Dog Trainers under Frank Bonomo (specializing in off-leash obedience, protection, narcotics, and scent-detection) and Mary Travers, Ph.D. (specializing in dog learning behavior). Lorraine has worked with rescue dogs, rehabilitating them to prevent euthanasia, and has done freelance work for Best Friends Dog Training. She was also a staff member of Canine Camp Getaway of NY. Her additional certifications include First Responder with Noah’s Wish and the Pet Safe Coalition, FEMA certified in disaster response, pet CPR First Aid, and human CPR & First Aid. She has also trained with dolphins and sea lions and experienced dog mushing in Alaska. During Hurricane Sandy, she managed an animal rescue shelter for over 150 dogs.
