Testimonials

We just finished a 6 week ISO puppy course with Shauna! Shauna took the time to personally get to know each owner and dog and personalize each experience to each dog. She was able to provide clear direction and instruction to not only the dogs but to help me as an owner understand how to best give commands and how to teach my dog commands and to stay consistent and firm while making it fun. She kept everyone pets and owners engaged and focused during the class. 10/10 recommend this class to anyone with a new puppy in their home! Also a huge shout out to Shauna’s store staff for always being so welcoming and always helpful and ready to answer any questions before class! You all are awesome! Millie thanks all of you so much!

Shauna is the best. I love Shauna’s training style. She is a wealth of information. She knows breeds, behaviors of breeds, and not just a few either!! Shauna’s classes are a combination of training the owner then the dog. Never once was it boring matter of fact I think the class would have stayed longer. We meet great people and were impressed with our dog’s achievements. This lady is truly the dog whisperer!!

I’ve been through Shauna’s classes from Puppy ISO to Advanced 2 and her guidance has taken our scared little foster fail and turned him into a whole new dog, not to mention she has taught me how to handle certain situations with him as well.

I also pet sit for a number of dogs that have gone through her courses and can say with certainty that it shows which ones have! Shauna’s classes are fun packed with good info for dog owners. Her goal is to be accesible to all and make the dog community of Watertown a safer more enjoyable place for all! She has touched ma y lives both K9 and human!

About the Trainer

Happy Tails K-9 Training and Supplies is a dog training business owned by Shauna Geier in Watertown, SD, offering private behavior evaluations and modification training for dogs with aggression, fear, or shyness, as well as group training classes for puppies and adults in obedience, socialization, and leash etiquette. Shauna, a former military professional with 14 years of service, holds certifications as a Certified Advanced Canine Training Professional (CACTP) and Certified Canine Trainer and Behavior Specialist (CCTBS), and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Her training approach is rooted in real-life experience with rescued dogs, including German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, and Malinois, many of which had severe behavioral issues that she successfully rehabilitated. The business also operates as a pet supply store offering enrichment products, vests, backpacks, training supplies, treats, toys, bones, and preventive medicine items. Shauna provides educational seminars for dog owners and hosts community events like Pawprint Ornament Workshops and Pet Portrait Fundraisers. Her facility serves as both a training center and a supportive hub for dog owners seeking practical, compassionate, and breed-informed guidance.

Shauna’s training philosophy emphasizes preventing euthanasia of dogs due to preventable behavioral issues by educating owners and using humane, effective techniques. She integrates her rescued dogs into evaluations and training sessions to help other dogs build confidence, and she tailors programs to individual needs with a focus on consistency, positive reinforcement, and owner education. Her store is welcoming and staffed to assist with product questions, making it a one-stop resource for training and supplies.

Her team includes rescued dogs that assist in evaluations, such as Marshal, a formerly fearful GSD mix who now helps calm shy dogs, and Kyra, a rescued dog who helped raise multiple dogs before her passing. Shauna’s work extends beyond training to community building, aiming to make Watertown a safer and more enjoyable place for dogs and their families.
