About the Trainer
Hidden Valley Obedience Club of North San Diego County, Inc., founded in 1986, is dedicated to promoting responsible ownership of companion dogs and encouraging participation in dog obedience sport activities. They advocate for positive communication, care, and training, focusing on the physical and mental well-being of dogs and their proper integration into family environments.
The club offers a comprehensive range of classes, from puppy training through utility levels, all taught by volunteer members. Their instructors are committed to continuous learning, regularly updating their skills through continuing education and seminars. Many have achieved multiple titles in obedience competitions, and several are members of the National Association of Obedience Instructors (NADOI) and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).
HVOC provides regular testing for the AKC’s Canine Good Citizenship program and hosts an annual AKC-licensed obedience trial in June. They also actively participate in canine education and demonstrations for community events. Training classes are held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening at their completely fenced and lit training grounds. Classes are typically 7 weeks long, lasting 45-50 minutes, with the exception of a two-hour orientation class for Puppies and Beginner Level I, which is held on a Saturday and does not require dogs to be present. The club has recently introduced two new classes, Fit Dog Level One and Level Two, focusing on canine fitness.
